This is the very *first* C/A or C/Aus story I ever wrote and I am unsure if anyone would be interested in reading it at all. My idea was based on the question, ‘how would it be Angelus Investigations and not Angel, how can I make this happen?’. My idea was to start at S3 of BTVS when Angel returned and work through via my fave. storylines including them as I go. So, Cordy is his seer and they go to LA to fulfill their destinies.

Angelus Investigations

Episode 01:

Prologue

Angelus prowled back and forth in a temper whilst he tried unsuccessfully to find a way out of the hell world he had been sent to by the slayer….

God Damned Slayer, how he had wished he had now taken Spike’s words to heart and killed the bitch when he first re-emerged from his confinement by the bloody soul. But he felt retribution was needed after having to put up with that self-pitying soul for so long, almost a century trapped inside while he was tortured by it’s guilt and remorse. But to make matters worse ~ it chased after that simpering phoney blonde bimbo slayer. Not only that but sleeping with her, he wanted out but being trapped inside by soul-boy while he chased after her skirts, but to come back just as he came in the slayer. That was a shock to say the least, wakening up on top of the one person he truly hated … there just wasn’t a strong enough word to describe how that felt!!! But to be betrayed by none other than his own ungrateful grandchilde … especially after he had taught him everything he knew about being the vampire he had become today he just felt he should have ignored his chider’s pleas to keep the useless man as her mate and instead staked the ungrateful pup when Drusilla first sired him, what his little girl saw in that little traitor had always escaped him….

A blinding flash around him interrupted his personal tirade; blinking rapidly he turned around a full circle to note he was no longer in the small nook of hell he currently fondly referred to as home.

Suddenly as the light totally dissipated he found himself facing two glowing white figures, they were of no breed he had ever encountered, nor where they human. They were dressed in the flowing gowns of the bygone Roman era, and there faces where painted with some strange designs in a fluorescent blue colour. The only thing he was sure of was that one of them appeared to be male and other female.

Who and whatever they were they had obviously transported him from his cell in hell for a reason, and as he hadn’t been a patient man let alone vampire he decided to find out immediately so they could leave him the hell alone.

Just as Angelus was about to open his mouth to deliver his first salvo the female raised her hand in a sign to him not to bother, as he was about to continue anyways the male began to talk.

“Vampire we have summoned you for a reason”

Angelus wasn’t impressed and he opened his mouth to rebuke the male when the female spoke for the first time.

“Angelus we know of your desire to escape your confinement”

“And we wish to make offer you a proposal to do just that” the male continued.

“Why would you wish to release me, who are you to think you could do that and more importantly would woman be part of the deal…” Angelus cut in giving the female in front of him what can only be described as a dirty leer …

“Vampire you will restrain yourself or we shall send you back immediately” the male snapped out.

“Sorry didn’t mean to step on your toes Goldie..”

“Brother enough … Angelus..” the female continued turning her full attention to the belligerent vampire standing in front of them “.. We know of your history, we are the oracles. Spokespersons for The Powers That Be, we are responsible for keeping balance between good and evil by instructing the warriors for The Powers in their quests.”

“This affects me how exactly?” Angelus by now was bored and only wished to left alone and as soon as possible.

“There has been an error made when your soul was allowed to escape” the male put in still giving the vampire his impression of the evil eye.

“No kidding, and here I thought soul boy did it. What with boning the Slayer and all.”

“That was never meant to happen…”

“Well isn’t that just a shame, not my decision though. He didn’t give me a vote in it at all, if he had I had my eye on a more tempting morsel altogether.”

“That is quite enough Vampire …”

“Settle down brother, let’s just make our offer and leave Angelus to decide.. ”

“She right, get on with it… I’ve got ‘hot’ plans for the rest of eternity”

“We are offering you a trade Angelus ..”

“Oh yeah? What sort of trade, I’m kind of low on cash at the moment”

“We would be willing to return you to life on Earth” the female continued.

“And why would you do that? I wouldn’t mind in the least but I’m sure you remember that I am an evil Vampire right?”

“We forget nothing …”

“But, we would like you to think about our request, in return for giving you this choice we would require you to abide by some rules.”

“I knew it … what do you want? And hurry up I don’t have forever … oh yeah scrap that I do!”

“You would be allowed to return with only your agreement that you would fight for the side of good. We well understand that vampires crave violence and death, but these activities would only be applied to those who hurt the innocent. Any sign of someone for the side of good, or an innocent, being hurt and you would be returned to hell and never again to walk upon the Earth.”

“So as long as I don’t kill the little innocents I get to walk away free and clear, right?”

“You will also have to fight against the evil which blights the world you walk upon,” the male repeated.

“Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. I get it. Fight the baddies and don’t kill the good guys and I get my get out of jail free card.”

“Angelus, we will only give this chance once. The minute you drop innocent blood or break any of the rules you have agreed to you will return to the darkness forever”

“So when do I get to go back?”

“You can be returned immediately if you agree to the rules…”

“So do it already won’t you!”

“Do you agree to the rules Vampire?” The male demanded.

“Of Course I’m not stupid”

“That is open to debate,” the male intoned only to be interrupted by his sister before an argument could break out between the two men, which would definitely lead to a headache for her. “You shall be returned immediately and will be contacted by our messenger who will lead you on your way. But be warned Angelus that one fall from this path will result in you being returned to the darkness from which you came forever…”

Before he could answer again another blinding light surrounded him causing him to close his eyes tightly and when he at last reopened them he found himself in an alleyway.

A very familiar alleyway, one he had used many times before.

Walking cautiously to the entrance Angelus sneaked a peak around the corner and watched the groups of teenagers going in and out of the entrance to The Bronze.

“Not here,” he muttered, “anyplace but here”

Closing his eyes in disgust he shook his head as he heard an unfamiliar voice speak behind him,
“You must be Angelus,” he turned and faces the man behind him who was dressed scruffily.

“Who are you?” he growled out ill temperedly.

“No need to get all bent out of shape,” the man took a step back as Angelus walked towards him, “I’ve been send by The Powers That Be, to show you towards your path.”

“Who are you? And why should I listen to anything you say?”

“You know the rules man, renege on your deal with the oracles and all it will buy you is a one way ticket back to hellsville.”

“Get on with it then, I’m hungry and the sun will be up in a few short hours”

“Keep your hair on. I have the mansion already for you along with food, of the packaged version not the naturally packed one. We have lots of stuff to talk over, rules and such so lets gets on with it.”

“OK but you still haven’t told me who exactly you are,” Angelus glared whilst leaning in towards the smaller man and taking a visible sniff of air, “except that you are a half-breed of course.”

Taking another step away from the vampire the smaller man continued on, “yes I’m a half-breed as you so politely put it, and the name’s Doyle”.

Keeping distance from the notorious vampire Doyle walked into the darkness towards his mansion domicile.
End Prologue.

Angelus Investigations

Episode One.

Part One

Angelus paced impatiently inside the mansion awaiting night fall so he can get outside and away from the annoying presence of the half-demon currently residing in his home.

He never knew what a headache agreeing to the oracles deal to return him to Earth would provoke.

It had seemed so simple, agree to fight a few demons for the good guys and not eat or in anyway kill the innocents and get out of jail free. Or rather hell free, that should teach not to think a plan properly through before jumping in with both feet.

Honestly being lumbered with that soul for so long had obviously made his a slight bit stupid and affected his thought processes. Let’s face it trying to suck the world into hell, only to end up being sent there himself by the slayer and his ungrateful grandchilde, wasn’t his finest moments. And here he went again agreeing to something before thinking it out thoroughly or finding out the fine print. He should have thought that a couple of simple rules weren’t the only thing between him and freedom.

Since returning and meeting Doyle he had learnt the entirety of the powers rules and regulations governing his return from hell. After several days and nights cooped up here with only the half-demon know it all, he was feeling homesick for his little cell in hell.

The only positive aspect was he still had his mansion to live in, no skulking around in back alleys eating rats on a regular diet. Though his current diet of pig’s blood left a lot to be desired.

Giving a deep sigh Angelus turned around as the door behind him opened admitting the smaller man with which he shared his house presently.

“Don’t tell me, more rules to go over!” He was really getting sick and tired of all these stupid rules he had to go over time and time again.

“No such thing man, I was rather thinking of getting out of here for a while. Clearing out the old cobwebs and perhaps getting a bud or two, or three..” Doyle smirked slightly at the vampire, hoping he was agreeable to a few hours away from the house. He was admittedly feeling more than a little hemmed in, liked life as a free spirit too much. Never knew that agreeing to go over some simple rules and regs with a new warrior and sending him off with his guide on the right path would be such a hassle. So much for an easy job for a change!!!

Smirking to himself Angelus nodded in reply he followed the smaller man out into the darkened night.

***

After spending a couple of hours at Willies the two men decided to take a walk around the town, hopefully avoiding the Slayer and his posse in the process, Angelus thought.

Walking around in silence gave Angelus a chance to go over what he had learned since his return.

Apparently he had been returned for many reasons.

Firstly, there was the whole soul business; the oracles hadn’t been messing with him there. Allowing him to be cursed was part of their plan – he was destined to be a warrior for good and with this end in mind he had found himself in Sunnydale where he was supposed to shown his ‘true path’. Doyle had been avoiding direct questioning about what exactly this path was but he had assured him that he would be finding it out soon enough. He also found out that Doyle was only staying until the ‘true path’ showed itself and then he would be called away on his next mission.

Next, there was many different prophecies pertaining to his future as a ‘warrior of the light’ which would be forever lost if The Powers didn’t find a way to salvage them. Hence this last ditch attempt to allow him back and in hopes of fulfilling at least some of these prophecies. It seemed that his souled counterpart had quite a niche to fill in the fight against evil and his un-souling had definitely not been part of the plan and had been the result of an over-sight. Had the oracles been on the ball he would never had arisen months previous.

That was another thing, whilst he had been almost a century in hellville before the oracles had called him to them for their little chat, the time which had passed here had only been a couple of short months.

Lastly, they hadn’t been jokin’ about this being a one-time thing. Screw-up and it would be adios forever.

Stopping abruptly he grabbed Doyle’s arm and pulled into a nearby alleyway. When Doyle tried to speak Angelus shushed him and pointed out the group heading towards them and they both watched as the Slayer and her group of happy hunters trooped past the alleyway in which they were hidden in the shadows.

Luckily the slayer never stopped once and rushed past the alley without breaking a step.

Surprisingly to the vampire hidden in the darkness it was the tall brunette who was bringing up the rear of the group, which slowed and turned around looking directly toward where they both stood.

A frown marred her flawless skin as she attempted to peer inside the alley, although he knew she couldn’t see inside Angelus felt his entire body freeze in anticipation. Staring back towards the cheerleader he felt an almost unbearable desire to step out of the alleyway and to go the young woman. This surprised and shocked the vampire as he had paid little or no direct attention towards the girl during his last visit.

Just as he was about to step out towards her he felt Doyle grab his arm and hold him back and he felt helpless as he observed Xander do the same thing to Cordelia dragging the girl onwards towards the group of teenagers walking away from them into the distance.

All the while Angelus could almost feel her eyes never leave his as she was pulled away walking backwards away from the alleyway and from him.

If not for the restraining hand Doyle had on his arm he would have followed and pulled the girl away from the young man leading her away from him.

***

Xander couldn’t believe how this night had been, first Cordelia had bitched constantly about researching the new prophecy Giles had found which mentioned Buffy and a mysterious new warrior, but his girlfriend had spaced out and had to be practically dragged away a step at a time from the alleyway outside Willie’s bar.

The strangeness had not ended there, but in total it had freaked him out that Cordelia had lapsed into a dream like state. When Cordy stopped bitching completely it couldn’t be a good sign.

After knowing her all his life, this silent inattentive version was quite frankly scary!!

Looking around he found her sitting on the stairs with an open book on her lap but her attention wasn’t on the words on the page but was once again miles away as she looked out into space with a small dreamlike smile adorning her face.

Sighing he returned his own attention back to his own book and began researching the new prophecy and left Cordelia to her own daydreams.

***

Angelus had long since returned to his mansion with Doyle, but for some reason was feeling a strange mixture of contentment and restlessness.

Doyle sat by the fire and looked up at the vampire standing at the window.

Smiling he remembered the rest of his mission, soon it would be time for him to move on. Whilst Angelus had been far from his easiest charge, he found himself in some strange ways sorry to go. Close proximity to the feared vampire had led Doyle to believe that there was more to Angelus than blood and violence. In fact, he was a bit put out that he wouldn’t be remaining for much longer to see how this panned out now, especially considering what had happened this evening. It was sure going to be interesting what the next few days would bring, he knew that once Angelus was on his path were he should be it would be time for him to move on once again.

He could only hope that he would return some time and see how thing went.

***

Angelus looked out into the pitch darkness outside and thought back to his evening.

A couple of hours at Willies along with the fun he had watching the response of the other vampires and demons to his resurrection, was topped by the near encounter with the Slayer and her little commando’s.

But what had him really confused and shocked was his reaction to seeing Cordelia Chase, whilst he had never had much direct dealings with the cheerleader. He can remember clearly his soul’s reaction, or lack thereof, to the girl who had all but thrown herself at them continually for so many months.

Underneath the front, which he was sure, Cordelia Chase showed the entire world there was a surprisingly strong woman. One he wouldn’t mind meeting some time.

This surprised him greatly, but I couldn’t help remembering the one and only time he had been in close proximity to the young woman. Just prior to his little sojourn to the hell spa he had actually for a few seconds been so close to Cordelia he could share air with her, thinking about that experience brought back memories of a soft female body beneath his own.

Closing his eyes he could almost feel her beneath him, this memory brought back with him a stirring down below which shocked him deeply.

Opening his eyes he gasped as he felt a definite hardening behind his zipper, which made him shift uncomfortably.

Mentally shaking himself he turned away from the window and made his way quickly out of the room and away from the prying eyes of his silent companion.

***

Cordelia brushed her long hair slowly, allowing the regular rhythm to calm her. This past evening had been strange to say the least.

Firstly upon turning up to spend time with her on-again, off-again, boyfriend Xander she found that Giles had once again found another prophecy mentioning the almighty slayer and her illustrated destiny.

After a quick tour around the graveyard of choice that evening, they had been making there way back to Giles’ to spend a few hours researching this new prophecy when they had passed by the silent and dark alley next to Willie’s.

Experiencing a strange compulsion she stopped allowing the rest of the Scoobies to shoot on ahead and turned to peer into the pitch-blackness of the alley.

Although she couldn’t see anything, a dark alley on a dark moonless night, what else can you expect?!!

But still she couldn’t tear her eyes away or move away, in fact she felt the intense desire to walk in there.

It was almost as if something was calling to her, something elemental and commanding.

It took Xander running back and pulling her away for her to leave, and even then she had been unable to tear her eyes away.

Once back at Giles’ she had been reduced to a dreamlike state, it was almost as if her mind was elsewhere from her body itself.

After what seemed like hours she had eventually left Giles and headed home to her own bed. And even now she felt something pulling at her to go somewhere, but she had no idea what or even where.

The only thing that she was sure of was that she felt no fear, no fear at all.

***

Lying in his lonely bed Angelus couldn’t drag his mind or thoughts away from Cordelia. Although he didn’t know why he was feeling like this, he knew it didn’t disturb him in the least.

Which in itself should have been disturbing but wasn’t.

Finally exhaustion won out and he drifted off to sleep.

***

Across town Cordelia felt her mind slow down and eventually she dropped into sleep unsure of what awaited her but yearning for it.

***

Cordelia could feel cool hands running down her warm body. They were large and calloused but she pushed her body further into them.

She could feel a larger body hovering above hers but didn’t open her eyes. Instead she stretched her body out in a silent demand for more touching and stroking.

Feeling cool lips touch her neck she once again pushed up, although the touches were soft she felt herself burn with the need for much rougher, more demanding caresses.

Lifting her hips she was finally able to touch the body over hers. Balancing herself on her flattened palms, and pushing down on the mattress, she was able to propel herself up till she was touching against the solid frame shadowing her own.

Using her hands for leverage she was able to assiduously rub against the masculine body more firmly.

She could feel two strong male arms at either side of her head and she gave into instinct to grab at the solid form above her.

Wrapping her arms around the torso above her own, she then parted her legs as far as she could and raised them up. With her strong thighs she grabbed hold of the hips above and using her weight pulled the masculine form down completely on top of her own.

Twin groans of approval were heard in the silent room, as she rubbed herself against the naked form lying on top of her own.

Throwing her head back she struck it against the pillows under her, as she felt the man begin moving for the first time since the gentle caresses which had first woken her.

***

Angelus had never felt anything as hot as the body underneath his own. When he had first looked down and saw the naked form beside him in the bed he had been afraid to move in case she awakened and left him.

He had begun to gently as he could stroke the satiny soft surface of her skin, almost too afraid in case it ended.

His first caress had enticed a moan from the sleeping girl; further gentle touches had lead to her stretching her naked form out for him and the rising of her body to meet his hand.

Almost terrified he had lowered his mouth to her neck, but felt no desire to bite, but instead felt the need to kiss and taste the surface of the skin.

At her direction he had gotten closer to her by moving himself over her totally using his hands and arms at either side of head to keep his greater weight from her smaller frame.

This had only resulted in a greater need in the young woman to push up against his body.

Taking deep breathes that he didn’t need he watched intensely as she took one great lunge and wrapped her long arms around his torso. Before he could decide how to retaliate she had parted her long golden legs and wrapped them tightly around his own hips.

The added weight had pulled him down totally on top of her; he could feel the burning heat of her body all around his cold form. And more importantly he could feel her wet core scorching against him; taking a deep breath he inhaled the intoxicating smell of her arousal.

Next went his sanity, what was left of it, when she began to rub herself frantically against his body.

Unable to help himself anymore Angelus began to thrust back against the agile body beneath his own.

***

Before long Cordelia could feel an intense pulling coming from deep inside herself, almost without her approval she felt her body’s natural instinct take over.

The need to feel her body to feel fulfilled she began grabbing at the strong back above her, digging her nails in she ran them frantically up and down.

As the tightness in her loins got almost unbearable, she could feel the man over her take control.

Two large hands grasped her hips and pulled them apart.

Valiantly she tried to unsuccessfully pull him back down onto her and feel the wonderful release she knew was awaiting her.

But still he wouldn’t allow her, just as she felt ready to scream so heard a soft voice calming her just seconds before she felt something hard and cool push at her over heated entrance.

***

Taking control back Angelus forced her body away from his by grasping at the hips frantically moving against his own.

Feeling her attempt to pull him back he gently shushed her before adjusting himself enough to direct his impossibly hard erection at the entrance which had until a moment ago been rubbing against him scorching him intimately.

Looking down into the face below him he saw the frustration and need etched in every crevice.

Feeling his way down he got himself in line with his wetness and began a slow torturous journey inside her scorching hot body.

Once he was totally encased inside Cordelia tight body he allowed her to wrap her impossibly long limbs around his hips. Reaching beneath her he tilted up her pelvis allowing him to go as deeply as possible inside her.

After a moment of stillness he began even slow withdrawals and re-entrances.

Each thrust inside felt like torture, but unlike other tortures this wasn’t one he wished to end anytime soon.

Every time he pulled out, Cordelia would tighten her thighs and pull him back in quicker and stronger than the time previously.

Angelus could feel the nails once again dig into his back, as his thrusts became stronger and more frantic he could feel the same nails tear welts up and down his spine.

Soon he knew he would be exploding, and the smell of his own blood being dragged from his body by the woman below him was speeding up the process greatly.

Just as he thought he was ready to explode he felt the ripples begin deep within her abdomen and rush their way down into her. Soon the ripples became violent in their intensity and their contractions were greatly tightening the sheath he was currently thrusting into.

Unbidden his natural features ascended as the vampire in him demanded his completion.

His attempts to stop his natural instincts for the first time in centuries abruptly ended when Cordelia reached up and yanked his head down into her soft neck.

This ended his reservations as his fangs sunk deeply into the softness beneath him, as her warm spicy blood began to flow into this mouth and down his throat he lost control and after three shorts thrusts he exploded into the tight body holding his own.

***

Feeling her body explode, her pleasure once again escalated when she felt the hard body ram into hers repeatedly from above.

Soon he would reach his peek but before she felt the need for one last thing, without thinking she released his back and grabbed the head straining away from her.

With all her power she yanked downwards and felt his face press against her neck, something was different.

She could feel hard ridges but rather than frighten her she could feel her pleasure mount once more, pushing her neck closer to the hard face she felt the sharp teeth touch her skin. As his thrusts became more frantic she hugged the head against her with all her might, just before she could explode once more she felt a sharp prick as her lover’s fangs pierced her skin, sinking deeply into her flawless neck.

Pleasure unlike any before swept her body once more; just as she felt her body tingle coolly she could feel her blood exit her as her lover sucked her life’s blood into his own mouth and down his throat.

As a second more powerful orgasm rushed through her body she felt three sharp deep thrusts before the hard large organ inside swelled impossible harder inside her for a second before she felt a massive rush of cool semen flood her insides.

Her lover continued to feed slowly from her as their bodies both calmed and came down slowly from their orgasms.

As the final ripples receded she felt the fangs, which held her throat captive release slowly and let go.

As the long tongue cleaned the small wounds Cordelia found herself relaxing towards an exhausted sleep.

***

Slowly letting go of the delicate neck beneath his fangs Angelus began to lick clean the twin marks marring the beautiful skin.

Sleep began to grasp their bodies, just as he was about to fall beside her body he felt rather than saw the room around him alter and changer.

The last thing he heard before waking up alone in his bedroom at the mansion was Cordelia cry out his name in distress.

Shooting upright Angelus quickly shot his gaze around his empty room; in game face he examined the entire dark room surrounding him.

No one else was present much to his disgust.

Especially no Cordelia.

Never in all his centuries had he had such a vivid dream.

As he lay back down flat on his bed, he turned onto his side towards where till minutes before he could have swore Cordelia was, he curled up attempting to return to sleep.

Maybe she would be waiting to meet him there.

One last thing, if this was a wet dream – why could he still taste her blood on his tongue and inside his body….

***

Cordelia jerked awake and reached out distressed towards the other side of her empty bed.

No one else was here.

Apart from this being a realistic dream, the most hotly passionate dream she had ever experienced, one other thing kept disturbing her.

If this way just a dream why was her body still vibrating with the pleasure of her two orgasms?

But the most disturbing thing was her body and soul was crying out for her lover.

But why was her lover….

ANGELUS!!!!!!!

Part Two

The next morning saw a confused and quite frankly frustrated young woman awaken late for her school day for the first time in forever.

Berating herself as she went Cordelia quickly rushed her way through her morning shower, as she stood in front of her bathroom mirror she got her first clear look at her neck.

After a quick look whilst brushing her teeth the small redness at the left side of her normally flawless neck didn’t strike any notice to her.

It wasn’t until she was rushed through her usual beauty routine that the two small red marks on her neck came to her attention, she would normally be annoyed with this imperfection on her skin but somehow it didn’t bother her in the least.

Somewhere she connected these marks with her strange dream, gently raising her hand to the marks she gently caressed over them. As soon as her finger surface makes contact with them she felt a small sharp electric like shock rush through her system. Suddenly last night’s strange dream came rushing back into her mind in full Technicolor.

Every caress and touch was remembered. As was all the feelings and desires which shot through her nervous system. Unbidden her hands smoothed a line down her body, before she could evaluate what she was doing she had pushed her short skirt up her thighs until it was bunched around her hips.

Without thinking she allowed her hands to dictate their own actions, but they weren’t – it was if some external force was guiding her. Almost like she was a puppet on a string with some mysterious puppeteer was commanding her every movement.

Soon she felt scorching heat on her fingertips as she inserted one, and then two of her own long fingers into her aching vagina. As her fingers caressed the inside of her own body her thumb began to slowly rub over the small bundle of nerves posed of the outside of her entrance.

Slipping off into her dream world where her lover awaited her, she no longer felt her own hand move on her own body. Soon much larger, stronger and rougher fingers replaced her fingers. But they were in no way uncomfortable, exactly opposite in fact. These fingers definitely belonged to a man, and the cool feel of his ice-cold skin rather than chill her increased her pleasure no end.

A large calloused thumb began to move on her hard bundle of nerves. Without her input her hips began to move in time with the hand pleasuring her so greatly.

Tilting her head to her right, she gasped and then groaned in pleasure as a cool mouth was placing soft butterfly kisses on her neck. Soon a wet tongue began to lick slowly down her neck making sure progress towards the two small puncture wounds she had acquired just last night.

Just like before the second she felt the mouth cover the marks she groaned loudly and once again attempted to force the lips to touch her more strongly.

Feeling a second hand caress her breasts through the blouse and bra covering them as the fingers quickened their stroking and pleasuring.

Rocking her body more steadily Cordelia enjoyed the added pressure and pressed her entire body back into the strong male body standing directly behind her.

Just as she felt the slight tightening deep inside her, she called for her lover to take her, and take her now.

Within seconds she felt the sharp prick of his fangs enter her neck, reopening the wound he had first placed there only the night before.

Soon the welcoming coolness she had felt last night also returned as she felt the blood being sipped out of her, soon the tingling began to mount. Joining with the tightening sensation, which was growing in her lower abdomen, she felt the glorious release of her orgasm overflow.

Leaning back and gasping air into her lungs, she felt the shudder race through her form as she called out her lover name as her body hungrily grab at his invading fingers, which were still deep inside her throbbing body.

As her pulse began to return to its normal rhythm she slowly removed her own hand from it’s place deep inside her panties and returned her clothes to their natural order.

Looking at herself in her full-length bedroom mirror she took in the golden flush of her cheeks, which looked better than any make-up, could produce.

A second closer look caused her to raise her left hand once more up to the newly re-opened wounds on her neck. To her shock as she touched the marks she felt a slightly sticky substance touch her fingertips.

Moving her hand closer to her own face she identified the substance as her own blood, but instead of panicking she simply smiled the smile of contentment and whispered her lover’s name once more.

“Angelus..”

***

Across town Angelus awakened from another very vivid dream, bringing his right hand up to his face he closed his eyes as he slowly inhaled the scent present on his skin.

Snaking his tongue out he timidly licked at the tip of his forefinger and came back with the taste, which he remembered, clearly from the previous night.

Running his tongue around his mouth, he was surprised to note he was once again in his natural face, whilst tracing his sharp fangs she once again tasted the spicy aroma of Cordelia’s blood.

Lying down on his bed he closed his eyes as visions of him standing behind a dressed Cordelia whilst he touched her with his hands and tasted her wonderful blood came rushing back to him.

He could feel her body contract around his fingers as he gently feed from his mark on her neck once more. Looking up he could see her explode in pleasure calling out his name in the reflection of the mirror directly in front of them.

***
After a long day at school which passed with her residing in a dreamlike state Cordelia was finally able to leave and go home.

Forgoing the usual cheerleader practice with a white lie that she wasn’t feeling well she managed to make it home and avoid any of the Scoobies especially Xander in the process.

Her neck wounds were covered up by wearing a neck scarf, hence avoiding any and all awkward questioning that the two small holes would arouse. Especially around Buffy & Xander, not to mention Giles once he got a good look at her neckline.

The last thing Cordy felt like doing was answering questions about her stranger dreams, but then dreams lead you to believe them only happen when you sleep and she had experienced one whilst she was wide awake this morning.

This had made her even later for school than she had been originally, but the same white lie, which had gotten her out of practice, aided her in explaining her earlier absence from class.
***

Angelus impatiently awaited nightfall, glancing towards the bedroom window failed in making the sunset any sooner.

After an early awakening plus the added daydream that followed only served to confuse the vampire even more than he had been after last night’s activities.

But a call from a ‘friend’ hoping to get in Angelus’ good graces warned him that word had gotten to the Slayer that he had returned. So now he had to wonder how to deal with Buffy without killing her or any of her friends, which would buy him that one-way ticket back to hellsville. One that he wasn’t willing to take what with the events, which had occurred since seeing ‘her’ last night.

Shaking himself he decided to go feed prior to going out so that he wouldn’t have to deal with hunger pangs around so many humans as he would be around this evening when he faced the old gang.

Grimacing he headed out of his suite towards the kitchen and a bag of pig’s blood.

***

Buffy couldn’t believe the news.

There had been several sightings of Angelus, or perhaps Angel, last night in and around Willie’s Bar.

Restless and impatient for verification she headed out as soon as school was out and woke up Willie, after a few pushes and punches he told her that yes he was back.

But what perturbed her was it would seem it was Angelus would had returned.

Why had no one turned up dead?

If truth be known things had been very quiet since she had sent Angelus off to hell, and closed the hell mouth.

Now it would seem he was back once more.

How?

She had no idea, and neither did Giles.

Why?

Again Blank.

But what she found more frightening is the fact he hadn’t done anything…. Weird she knows but it begged the question what game he was playing and when would he pounce on them destroying all their lives and probably killing all their friends.

Sighing she turned back towards Giles and the rest of her friends as they researched any sources to explain Angelus’ return.

Also who was the strange man who was with him, at first they had thought another vampire but as he had been seen around town shopping during the daylight over the past week that was quickly ruled out.

Well this wasn’t the way she would prefer to get her answers but research was necessary at this point, they couldn’t just confront Angelus without something to back them up in case he was about to re-open hell again or something.

Who knows what powers that small untidy man staying with him at the mansion, they had discovered this also so far, was capable of. After all if he had the ability to bring Angelus back from hell itself, God only know how much power he really had.

So until then, research it was.

Heaving a final sigh Buffy returned to her own book as they all searched out answers in vain.

But none of them would be ready for what they would hear before the night would end, as even as she pondered and they researched Angelus was getting ready to leave his mansion.

Silently he closed the door as he and his fellow housemate melding into the darkness and headed out into the night.
ANGELUS INVESTIGATIONS: THE DARK WARRIOR EMERGES
Prologue:

The Oracles

HELL

Angelus prowled restlessly back and forth in a fit of temper as he tried unsuccessfully to find a way out of the hell world he had been sent to by the slayer.

Goddamn Slayer, how he wished he had now taken notice of Spike’s advice and killed the bitch when he first had the chance. But he felt retribution was needed after putting up with that soul affection for the whiney blonde. He had had enough of that after all the years he had spent with his annoying sire. He had wanted out from beneath the soul’s control more than anything. But it was a shock to say the least, awakening up on top of the one person he truly hated … there just wasn’t a strong enough word to describe just how disgusted he had felt!!! And to be betrayed by none other than his own ungrateful grandchilde … he should have ignored his childe’s pleas to keep the useless man as her mate and instead staked the ungrateful pup when Drusilla first sired him, what his little girl saw in that little traitor had always escaped him….

Suddenly without warning a blinding flash surrounded him interrupted his personal tirade; blinking rapidly he turned in a full circle noting he was no longer in the small nook of Hell he currently referred to as home.

As suddenly as the light appeared it totally dissipated and he found himself facing two glowing figures dressed in white. They were of no breed he could remember ever encountering, nor where they human. They were dressed in the flowing gowns remiscent of the bygone Roman era, and their faces seemed to be painted with some strange designs in a fluorescent blue colour. The only fact he was sure of was that one of them appeared to be male and other female.

THE ORACLES CHAMBER

Whoever and whatever they were it was obvious they had transported him from his cell in Hell to here, wherever here was. It was also apparant they would not do so without reason.

As a human he had not been in the least bit a patient man and he hadn’t improved much when he had become a vampire. So needless to say he wanted this, whatever this was, over and done with, so they would leave him the hell alone.

Just as Angelus was about to open his mouth and deliver his first salvo the female raised her hand to signal him not to bother, and before he could continue anyways the male began to speak.

“Vampire we have summoned you for a reason”

Angelus wasn’t at all impressed and opened his mouth to demand the male get on with it and stop the posturing when the female spoke for the first time.

“Angelus we know of your desire to escape your present confinement”

“And we wish to make offer you a proposal which would allow you to do just that” the male interrupted displeased with his sister’s obvious interest in the vampire.

Angelus looked at the pair contemplating what he had heard so far. Not in the least sure that they were on the level even though they had transported him to here. Wherever here was. It took a lot to impress him and as of yet he wasn’t all that impressed. Giving the two another long silent look he turned his full attention towards the female one before responding.

“Why would you want to release me and while we are on the subject just who are you to think you could actually be able to pull off an pass from Hell itself? More importantly would woman be included as part of the deal…” Angelus cut off giving the female in front of him what can only be described as a dirty leer.

“Vampire you will restrain yourself from making such degratory remarks or we shall send you back immediately” the male snapped out irritated at the vampire’s insinuation and the fact his sister hadn’t stopped him herself instead of just smiling at him.

“Sorry didn’t mean to step on your toes Goldie..” Angelus smirked at the male amused at his obvious annoyance.

“Brother enough!” the female continued turning her full attention to the belligerent vampire standing in front of them “Angelus we know all about your history, and to answer your question we are the Oracles, we speak on behave of The Powers That Be, we are those who are responsible for keeping balance between good and evil by instructing warriors of The Powers in their battles on behalf of good.”

“So your the spokespersons for these Powers who are in charge of the fight against evil. Exactly what do these Powers want with me?” Angelus by now was bored and only wished to end this meeting and return back to his little cell in Hell.

“There was an error made when your soul was allowed to escape it’s confinement allowing your demon to reign once again.” The male announced blandly still giving the vampire his impression of the evil eye.

Angelus’ smirk grew wider as he drawled, “No kidding!” he winked at the female before he finished. “And here I was thinking that soul boy did it when he boned the Slayer.”

The male glared at the amused vampire before he announced sternly. “That was never meant to happen…”

To Angelus any amusement he was having was fast disappearing as he cut the Oracle off abruptly. “Well isn’t that just a shame, it wasn’t my decision though, you really need to be taking that up with my souled counterpart. He didn’t give me a vote in it at all, more’s the pity I can tell you. I had my eye on a much more tempting morsel altogether, a stunning brunette with more curves than a winding road and built for it.”

“That is quite enough Vampire …”

“Settle down brother, let’s just put forth our offer and we can leave Angelus to decide for himself whether he wishes to take up the deal the Powers have given.”

“She right there Pal,” Angelus snorted shooting his own warning glare towards the male Oracle. “Lets get on with it… I’ve got me some ‘hot’ plans for the rest of eternity”

“What we are offering you is a trade Angelus …”

“Oh yeah, is that so? What sort of trade do you have in mind? I’ve got to admit I’m kind of low on cash at the moment”

“We would be willing to return you to Earth” the female continued blatantly ignoring the glares the two males were exchanging.

“And why would you be willing to do that?” Angelus queried, “I wouldn’t mind in the least, let me assure you of that, but I’m sure you both do remember that I am an evil Vampire.”

“We forget nothing …” The male started only to be interrupted by his sister once again.

“But we would like you to think about our request and in return for giving you this chance we would require you to abide by certain rules.”

“I knew it … what do you want? But hurry up I don’t have forever … oh yeah … scrap that I do!”

“You would be allowed to return but only with your agreement that you would fight on the side of good. We understand well that vampires crave not only violence but death. We ask you reserve such treatment for those deserving. By this we refer to the forces of evil who seek to destroy all that is good. At the first sign of you intentionally harming or killing an innocent or attacking a force of good we would have no recourse but to return you to hell and never allow you to walk upon the Earth again.”

“So as long as I don’t kill the little innocents I get to walk away free and clear, is that right?”

“You will also be required to battle against the forces of evil for the Powers.” The male repeated.

“Yeah … Yeah … Yeah … I get it. Fight the bad guys and don’t kill the good guys and I get my get out of jail free card.”

“Angelus you will be given this chance only once. The minute you spill innocent blood or break any of the rules you have agreed upon we will return you to the darkness forever”

“So when do I get to go back?” Angelus asked impatiently.

“You can be returned immediately once you agree to the rules put forth to …”

“So do it already will you!” Angelus ordered loosing all patience.

“Do you agree to the rules then Vampire?” The male demanded.

“Ofcourse I agree, I’m not stupid,” the vampire snapped.

“That is completely open to debate,” the male intoned only to be interrupted by his sister before an argument could break out between them. Which would definitely lead to an major headache for her. “You shall be returned to the Earth immediately and once there you will be contacted by one of our messengers who will help guide you on your right path. But be warned Angelus that one fall off this path will result in your return to the darkness from which you came for all eternity.”

Before Angelus could speak once more yet another blinding light surrounded him. He closed his eyes tightly and this time when he reopened them he found himself standing in an empty alleyway.

A very familiar alleyway and one he had used many times before in the past he realized. Looking around he cursed violently at the Oracles warped sense of humour when they had chosen his landing place.

Walking cautiously to the entrance of the alley Angelus snuck a peak around the corner watching the teenagers entering and leaving The Bronze.

SUNNYDALE

“Why here?” he muttered to himself. “Anyplace but here,” he silently begged as he closed his eyes in disgust.

He shook his head as an unfamiliar voice came from the shadows behind him. “You must be Angelus.”

He turned and found himself face to face with a scruffily dressed man.

“Who are you?” he growled ill temperedly.

“There’s no need to get all bent out of shape man,” the man stepped back as Angelus stepped closer to him, “I’ve been sent by The Powers That Be, to guide you to your path. Didn’t they tell ya I would be coming to meet ya?”

“Who are you?” Angelus repeated, “And why should I listen to anything you might have to say?”

“Now … Now … You know the rules man. You renege on the deal you made with the Oracles and it’s one way ticket back to Hellsville, no questions asked.”

Angelus growled realizing he was the messenger the Oracles had told him would be awaiting his return. He didn’t want him here but he knew there was nothing he could do about it. But that didn’t mean he had to like it. Crossing his arms over his chest he glared at the messenger before continuing reluctantly. “Well I reckon you are the messenger that I was supposed to be getting. Not that I’m all that happy with it I suppose I will just have to persevere. But do get on with whatever you have to say. I’m more than a little bit hungry what with spending a century in Hell, the sun will be up in a few short hours and I need to eat before finding myself a safe place to sleep.”

“Keep yer hair on now. I am on top of it all, I have your mansion already for you. And I also have stocked up with food, it’s of the packaged variety. But you will have to get used to it, sooner rather than later. I know vamps prefer the warm, human type of packing but that’s off your diet if yer gonna keep to your deal with the Powers. We have a lot of ground to cover, including goin’ over the rules and such. So I suggest we head home so we can get on with it.”

With a depressing sense of foreboding Angelus turned and headed back towards the exit to the alley.

“Alright we’ll go to my mansion but you still haven’t told me your name, I do suppose you have one?” Angelus stopped walking and glared at the man beside him. Leaning down he sniffed. “I do know your a half-breed of course but that tells me nothing except your parents must not have been too discriminating.”

Stepping away from the vampire the man glared warningly at him before responding. “Yes, I am a half-breed, as you so politely put it, but there is no reason for you to be passing asperations of either of my parents. My name’s Doyle by the way, if ya don’t mind I prefer it to half-breed or any other nickname yer might be considerin’ using.”.

Being sure to keep his distance from the notorious vampire Doyle walked beside him into the growing darkness as they made their way towards the waiting mansion.

Back in Town

SUNNYDALE

Angelus impatiently paced the mansion waiting for night fall to arrive so that he can get outside and away from Doyle’s annoying presence inside in his home.

He could never have imagined what a headache agreeing to the Oracles deal would provide him with.

It had all seemed so very, very simple when he had agreed to the Oracles deal. Fight a few evil demons on behalf of the Powers and refrain from eating or in anyway harming the innocents and he gets out of jail for free. Or rather hell for free.

This will teach him for not fully thinking out a plan before he went and jumped in with both feet.

At his advanced age he should known much much better than to fall for a trick such as this.

After all, why would the Powers all of that was good allow an evil unrepentant vampire out of Hell. And all he had to do in return for taking out a few of the other evil demons inhabiting Earth? Yeah he should have expected so sort of con. But he hadn’t … and now look at the mess he had dropped himself into this time.

He should have expected the trickery right away, instead of being hit with it when he arrived. He hadn’t even bothered to find out where they would be sending him … stupid! stupid! stupid!

But he had been too desperate to get out of Hell and return, to fully examine the deal the Powers were actually offering him. Including the fine print, of which there turned out to be one hell of a lot. A lot more than he thought could ever exist.

He had blamed being lumbered with that pathetic, annoying soul for so many years. It had obviously rubbed off on him, making him more than a little bit slow and stupid. Affecting his thought processes.

Let’s face it, trying to suck the world into Hell only to end up there himself. Curtesy of the bloody slayer and his ungrateful grandchilde. Well that hadn’t turned out to be one of his finest moments.

And then what did he go and do after spending a century in Hell?

He only went and agreed to this deal without thinking it through properly. Let alone done some investigating. Found out if there was the chance of any fine print. Or check for any strings that might be attached, let face it there must be on what seemed to be such a sweet deal!!

He should have realized that a couple of simple rules weren’t the only thing between him and his complete freedom.

Since returning and meeting up with Doyle he had learnt the entirety of all the Powers rules and regulations which had governed his release from Hellish sentence.

Now after spending several days and nights cooped up here, with only that half-demon know-it-all for company, he was feeling more than a little bit homesick for his own little corner of Hell.

The only positive aspect of returning to Sunnydale was he still had his mansion to live in. He had no need to skulk around in back alleys. Nor did he have to lower himself to surviving on a regular diet of rats. He had had more than enough of that when he had first been cursed with that bloody soul.

Though his current diet of pig’s blood left a lot to be desired. He was grateful for any small mercies available to him.

Heaving a deep sigh Angelus spun around at the sound of the door behind him being opened. Frowning he watched as his reluctant roommate entered.

Angelus shot him a dirty look before returning his gaze to the falling darkness outside.

“Don’t tell me … don’t tell me … you have even more rules for me to go over. Another night of repetative small print to memorize by heart. I don’t know how I will cope if you keep on with this lifestyle Doyle. This excitement might prove too much for me, one of these nights!!”

It was an exagerration to say he was getting sick and tired of all the stupid rules. It was almost as if they were adding them on as they went along. He felt as if they were almost imprinted on his brain itself by now.

“Don’t be like that man,” Doyle retorted not letting the vampire faze him. He was more than used to him by now. ” I have no such thing in mind for tonight. I was actually thinking as we have the rules pretty much down to pat by now. You might be up for getting out of here for a while. Clearing out the old cobwebs and perhaps getting a bud or two … or three. What d’ya say man?”

Doyle smiled hopefully at the vampire. He was admittedly feeling more than a little stir-crazy. He was suffering from a bad case of cabin fever by now. He had lived his life as too much of a free spirit to be restricted to one place for so long. Let alone to one house, even a large impression mansion like this one.

He never would have guessed that agreeing to do this would be so time consuming. All he had to do was go over some simple rules and regs with the Powers latest Warrior. After that it was a simple case of pairing off with his allotted guide and pointing them both on the right path. No fuss, no hassle.

So much for him thinking he was getting an easy job for a change!!!

Angelus smirked and nodded as he agreed to his evening’s plans. Returning the smile Doyle looked forward to their evening of much needed R and R as he followed the other man out into the darkness of the night.

A Night on the Town

After spending a couple of enjoyable hours at Willies Bar, the two men decided to take a little walk around town. All the while hopefully avoiding the Slayer and her posse. The weren’t ready just yet to face them. The time would come for that soon enough!!

As they walked together in a companionable silence, Angelus had the chance to go over all that he had learned since his return.

Apparently he had been returned for many reasons.

First off there had been the whole soul business. The Oracles hadn’t been messing with him there. Allowing him to be cursed had always been an intrical part of their plan. As he had always been destined to be a warrior for good. With this end in mind he had been sent to Sunnydale. Once there he was supposed to be shown his ‘true path’ in life.

Doyle had avoided all direct questioning about what exactly his path was. But he had assured him that he would be finding it out soon enough.

He had also found out that Doyle would only staying around until his ‘true path’ showed itself to him. Then he would be called away to his next mission.

The next thing he had learnt was that there was many different prophecies pertaining to his future. As a ‘warrior of the light’ he would have been lost forever if he had been allowed to languish in Hell for all eternity. So the Powers, unwilling to completely loose their warrior and all the good he was destined to do, had searched for a way to salvage the whole situation.

With this all this in mind they had made this one last ditch attempt. In allowing him to return they hoped to fulfill some of these prophecies.

He was, or rather Angel was, meant to be an important player in this eternal battle between the powers of good and the powers of evil.

It seemed that his souled counterpart had quite a niche to fill and his un-souling had definitely not been part of the plan at all. That had been the result of an over-sight made by the Powers. Aparantly if the Oracles had been on the ball, he would never had been allowed to loose his soul in the first place.

He had also found out something about the time difference which existed between Earth and Hell.

Whilst he had spent almost a century in Hellsville before the Oracles had called him. The time difference meant that only a couple of short months had passed by here.

The final important fact he had discovered was that the Oracles hadn’t been joking around when they had told him that this was a one-time deal only. If he were for some reason to actually screw-up. Then it would be Adios forever.

Go to Hell, go directly to Hell. Do not pass go, do not get the chance of a return admission!!

Angelus’ internal musing stopped abruptly when a familiar sound came to his ears, attracting his immediate attention. He grabbed ahold of Doyle’s arm, pulling him into the darkness of a nearby alleyway causing his companion to look at him in obvious confusion at his actions.

Doyle opened his mouth to ask Angelus exactly what was going on when he was silenced by a hand signal. Frowning he stayed silent as he observed his companion, who seemed to be listening to something he couldn’t hear. Any lingering confusion he felt was cleared up as Angelus pointed outwards towards the entrance of the alleyway. Following his instruction Doyle watched quietly as a group of teenagers walking past their hiding place, totally oblivious to their presence there.

As they watched the Slayer and her group of happy little hunters trooped past the alleyway.

Luckily for them, the Slayer never stopped, but instead strode on past without breaking her stride at all.

Surprisingly enough to the vampire it was the tall brunette bringing up the rear who slowed down. Turning about she looked directly towards where they stood in the darkness.

A frown appeared on her face as she attempted to peer inside, into the alley itself.

Although he knew she couldn’t possibly see him in the pitch black darkness of the alley, Angelus felt his entire body freeze in anticipation.

Returning the cheerleader’s gaze he was almost overcome with the most uncontrollable urge. It was commanding him to walk out of the alleyway and go over to where the young woman stood waiting. It was almost as if there were an invisible cord binding them together. Compelling him to go to her and not stray far from her ever again.

This naturally both surprised and shocked the vampire. Especially given the face he had paid little or no direct attention to the girl during his last visit. But that wasn’t to say he hadn’t wanted to, he had, but time had gotten the better of him and he had been sent to Hell before he could get around to doing anything about his plans.

He had gotten so deeply involved in his campaign against the Slayer, that there had been no time to explore any leanings he might have had towards the other girl.

Just as he was about to give in and step out of his hiding place and go to her. He felt Doyle grab his arm, holding him back.

Helplessly he could only watch as Xander grasped ahold of Cordelia, dragging the reluctant girl away.

As she was moved further and further away, Angelus could almost swear he could feel her eyes locked on his own. So intent she was, on keeping her eyes on him, she eventually had to walk backwards as she was led reluctanty away by Xander.

If not for the restraining hand Doyle had laid on his arm Angelus would have followed after the departing couple. He would have pulled her away from the young man who dared to take her away from him.

***

THE LIBRARY

Xander couldn’t believe how utterly strange this night had turned out to be.

First Cordelia had bitched, almost constantly, about having to research some new prophecy Giles had come across. A prophecy which mentioned Buffy and some mysterious new warrior who was meant to be arriving soon.

Then his girlfriend had spaced out on them and he had had to physically drag her back to the library. One step at a time from the alleyway outside Willie’s Bar.

The strangeness which was Cordelia had not ended there. Not in the least bit.

It had then totally freaked him out when Cordelia had now sooner arrived back at the library when she lapsed into an almost dreamlike state.

Whenever Cordelia stopped bitching, it must be a very bad sign. Possibly the sign of a coming apocolypse.

After having known her for his and her entire life. This silent, inattentive version of his girlfriend was quite frankly scary!!

Looking around the room he found that Cordelia was currently sitting by herself on the stairs. An open book lay in her lap, but her attention was most certainly not on the page she was supposedly reading. She once again seemed to be miles away as she gazed off into space. A small, almost dreamlike smile, adorned her beautiful face as she indulged in her own little daydream.

With a deep sigh he turned his attention away from Cordelia and back onto his own book.

THE MANSION

The two men had long since returned to Angelus’ mansion. But for some unknown reason he was feeling a strange mixture of contentment and restlessness.

Doyle sat crouched by the fire in hopes of getting warm. All the while he continued to watch the silent vampire standing by the window, gazing out with a single minded intensity .

Doyle smiled to himself, as he remembered the rest of his mission.

Soon it would be time for him to move onto his next mission.

Angelus had been far from his easiest charge. But putting all that aside, he had found himself actually beginning to like the vampire. Also being in the know of some of what was in store for him, he found himself becoming more than a little bit sorry to be moving on so soon. He would love to be around to see some of the fireworks he knew for sure would be coming up in the near future.

Such close proximity to the infamous vampire had led Doyle to believe that there was much more to Angelus than just death, blood and violence.

In fact he was a tad bit put out that he wouldn’t be staying to see how this all panned out.

If what had occurred on this evening’s walk back home had been any indication, things were about to get more than a little bit interesting. And he hated to imagine what he would miss once he moved on.

Doyle knew that once Angelus was safely placed on his path, he would have no option but to move onto his next assignment. The Powers would see to it. He could only hope that he would be allowed to meet the vampire again some time, so he could satisfy his own cursiousity.

***

Angelus stared out into the darkness of the night as he allowed his thoughts to drift on back over the evening’s events.

The hours they had spent at Willie’s Bar had been exactly the change he had needed.

He remembered the fun he had had when he had observed the response to his resurrection.

The vampires and demons at the bar had been more than a little shocked to see him back among the land of the living, so to speak.

After a couple of hours at the bar, and more than few beers, he and Doyle had headed for the mansion. He was rather surprised at how enjoyable he found the half-demon’s company. Not to mention how impressed he was at the sheer volume of drink he had managed to put away.

Then his night had been topped off by an almost encounter with the Slayer. And of course she had her little band of commandos in tow. Angelus couldn’t understand how they could stand to be in the blonde’s company almost 24/7 without cracking up!

He wasn’t looking forward to their invitable meeting. For nothing else they would have to have a face-to-face to explain his presence here. As far as she was concerned he should be languishing in Hell, exactly where she left him.

According to Doyle, who of course got it from the Powers, he had some business to complete with the Slayer and her pals before he could carry on with his own destiny. Hopefully as far away from her as possible, he had added on when Doyle had explained it to him.

Doyle had confused and upset him when he had announced that his destiny was somehow connected to the Slayer. That had angered him no end. But the other man, though he wouldn’t explain properly, had assured him that he had nothing to worry about. He just smirked and told him that the connection between them would be something he would relish. A delightful reminder to take from Sunnydale with him.

But returning back to that evening’s encounter, or rather near encounter, with the Slayer.

He had to admit that he was more than a little confused, not to mention shocked, by his reaction to Cordelia Chase.

While he had never had any direct dealings with the popular cheerleader. He could clearly remember his soul’s reaction, or lack thereof, to the teenager. She had all but thrown herself at them for so long before his true nature had been made clear of her. She had made his souled counterpart more than a little nervous but he had to admit she had made him laugh. Something the slayer never had done, not really.

Despite the front which Cordelia Chase showed the entire world. Angelus was more than sure there existed a surprisingly strong young woman. One he wouldn’t mind getting to know some time.

This surprised him greatly but he couldn’t help but remember the one and only time he had been in close proximity to the young woman.

Just prior to his little sojourn to his own personal Hell Spa he had actually, for a few seconds only, been so close to Cordelia he could actually share air with her.

Thinking back upon that experience brought to mind the memories of a soft female body pressed intimately beneath his own harder form.

Closing his eyes he could almost feel her beneath him right now. Alongwith with this memory came a stirring down below, under his zipper, which shocked him intensely.

Forcing his eyes to open he gasped as he felt the hardening behind the confines of his zipper become even tighter. This made him shift uncomfortably as the hard zipper began to dig into his sensitive flesh.

Mentally he shook himself as he turned away from the window. He quickly made his way out of the room and away from the prying eyes of his silent companion.
Part Two:

Dreaming of You

CORDELIA’S BEDROOM

Cordelia methodically brushed her long hair, allowing the regular rhythm of her movements to calm her raging emotions.

This evening had turned out, for her, to be the strangest one she had ever experienced. To say the very least.

First she had found when she had arrived to spend some time with her on-again off-again boyfriend Xander, that Giles had once yet again found a prophecy. Not unusual for them, this prophecy surrounded the almighty slayer and her illustrious destiny.

Like that didn’t happen whenever Giles opened one of those musty old books. She just wished he would find a prophecy about someone else for a change. Buffy already believed the world revolved around her and her destiny. For once it would do her good to realize that the rest of them had destinies too. It would also do her good to realize their destinies, and lives, were just as important as hers!!

After they had done their usual quick tour around one of Sunnydale’s innumerable local graveyards they had headed back to the library to research *again* Buffy’s destiny.

On the walk back she had experienced something truly weird.

They had been passing by the alleyway next to Willie’s Bar when a strange compulsion had gripped her, stopping her dead in her tracks.

The rest of the Scoobies had shot on ahead, completely ignorant of the fact she was no longer with them.

*Big Suprise*

Her attention had been drawn to the empty pitch-blackness of the alleyway. She had no idea why, but there was something in there, calling out to her. It was almost like she was being pulled into the darkness by some powerful, albeit invisible, bond.

Even though she couldn’t see anything at all, what else could she expect on a dark and moonless night, she still couldn’t bear to tear her eyes away. Or move away at all.

She had been further shocked as she felt an intense, almost over whelming, desire to walk into the alley. It was almost as if whatever was calling out to her was getting louder and stronger with each passing moment she had stood there.

It had felt almost elemental, commanding and demanding she join it. Whatever it turned out to be. She hadn’t cared what it was. She just wanted to go to where she felt she belonged.

It had eventually taken Xander running back to where she had been standing, frozen to the spot. And then literally pulling her away for there, for her to finally move and leave the entrance of the alley.

Even then she had been unable to tear her eyes away from the alley and she had walked backwards as she moved further and further away from it.

Only once she was no longer able to see the alley itself had she actually turned to face in the direction they had actually been heading.

Once they had returned to the library and began reasearching she had found herself unable to concentrate on her book. She had instead sat, alone and by herself, refusing to join Xander and the others at the table. Instead of reading she had spent all her time sitting there, in an almost dreamlike state, while the rest of the group researched the prophecy. It was almost as if her mind was elsewhere from her body.

After what seemed like hours to her, she had eventually been able to leave and head home to her own bed. But for the life of her she could not remember anything of what she dreamed about in the library for all that time.

Now as she sat here, in front of her dressing table, brush in hand she could feel something pulling at her. Urging her to go somewhere, but she had no idea what it was or even where she was mean’t to be.

The only thing that she knew for sure was that she felt no fear, no fear at all. Of whatever it was impelling her to do these things. She infact found this strange, unexplained feeling, somehow comforting to her. She felt a deep sense of peace and safety now that she never had experienced before in her life.

She also felt excited about someone or something. Whatever was creating these feelings inside her was getting closer and closer. And she couldn’t wait for it to arrive. After all the talk this evening about Buffy’s destiny, Cordelia could feel hers grow ever closer. Something was going to happen to her, very soon and she just knew she would be welcoming it when it did arrive because it was what she had been waiting for since the day she was born.

With a sigh of contentment she placed her silver hairbrush down by it’s matcing comb and mirror. Standing she dropped her dressing gown on the bottom of her bed before retiring for the night.

ANGELUS’ BEDROOM

Across town Angelus lay in his lonely bed unable to drag his mind or thoughts away from Cordelia.

Although he didn’t know why he was feeling this way, he found that it didn’t disturb him in the least. Which in itself should have been disturbing, but wasn’t.

After retiring to his room he had spent an uncomfortable hour trying in vain to read one of his favourite books. But his thoughts kept returning to the beautiful brunette haunting him.

In disgust he had headed for a shower before turning in for the night. But it had done nothing to ease the ache in his groin. The removal of his restrictive clothing had did little to alleviate the painful throbbing in his aching body. Even turning the water to freezing cold had did nothing to his aroused body. Eventually he had given up all hopes of his shower helping calm him and had retired to bed for what he was postive would be a restless night.

Finally exhaustion had won out over his disturbing thoughts and aching body as he had drifted off to sleep.

CORDELIA’S BEDROOM

Lying in her own bed Cordelia was relieved when her mind eventually began to slow enought to allow her to drift off.

As she dropped off into the welcome arms of sleep she found herself yearning for what she knew awaited her in the land of dreams. No fear did she feel, only anticipation of what was surely to come before this night was over.

Sighing she finally slipped into a deep sleep, feeling someone anxiously waiting her arrival she smiled angelically in response. Preparing to meet her dream lover with welcome arms.

DREAMLAND

Cordelia moaned as she felt the cool hands gently running down her warm body, leaving a trial of sensual heat in their wake.

The hands touching her were large and slightly calloused but the rough surface they provided only added to her pleasure.

Hungry for more contact she pushed her body upwards into her partner’s every touch.

She could feel a larger, male body hovering closely above her. Feeling no need to open her eyes and look at her partner, she kept her eyes firmly closed and relished every touch he gave her. Letting his touch paint her a sensual picture or her lover .

She also kept her eyes tightly shut in the awful fear that he would cease his caresses if she did open her heavy lids and look at him. Enjoying his attention to her aching body too much to chance him stopping. No matter what the reason.

Stretching her body out under his touch, she silently begged for him to continue with his touching and stroking. Desperate for his attention she pushed her body up into his hands, demanding, begging him to increase the pressure of his expert touch.

Feeling his cool lips touch the side of her sensitive neck she once again pushed up against his touch. Although he kept all his touches soft and frustratingly gentle she could feel herself burn hotter and hotter.

The need for much rougher, more demanding caresses built up inside her. Becoming higher and higher with each passing second.

Lifting up her hips from the bed, Cordelia was finally able to press her body against his. Using her flattened palms as leverage, she pushed down on the mattress and propelled herself upwards. Breathlessly she moaned as she felt his firm, strong body press totally into her own softer body.

Still using her hands as leverage she was able to assiduously rub against his strong masculine body a lot more firmly and continually. She soon built up a rhythm which left them both moaning in combined pleasure as they each felt the other’s arousal so very intimately.

Feeling the twin pillars of his strong arms as they stood tall, one positioned on each side of her. Caging her in between him and the bed on which they lay. The strength those muscular arms possessed allowed him to easily stay positioned directly on top of her without fear of crushing her in the least.

His whole body cried out a tantalizing mixture of strength and tenderness. Both of which appealed to every iota of her own fit but definitely female form.

Unable to resist, she gave into some undefinable primal instinct to feel him pressed down completely onto her own body. Without warning, Cordelia lunged upwards and used her own arms to grab at the solid form hovering above her.

Wrapping her arms around his broad torso she quickly swung her legs apart and upwards.

Using all the power her limber thighs could muster she grasped onto his waist. Holding tight she let her own body weight hang there, hoping to bring his body down to lay atop hers. When this didn’t immediately work Cordelia gave a little bounce and then followed it up with a little tug, hoping that he would get the idea and allow her to drag his body downwards like she wanted. When this frustratedly didn’t work the first time, she decided to try again. With another bounce and tug she found herself awarded with success as she was finally able to pull him down to her. Sighing in pleasure as he came to rest on top of her.

Two destinctive groans of approval were heard in the silence of the room, one male the other female. Ecstatic at the feel of his body pressed so heavily into her own Cordelia then began to rub herself inticingly against his naked form.

As the pleasure of this more intimate touch raced through her, she frantically tossed her head back into the plush pillows beneath her head.

Her moan began to grow even louder as she felt him begin to move against her for the first time since his gentle caresses which had first woken her.

***

Angelus had never felt anything as burning hot as the female body lying underneath him. When he had first glanced down and seen the naked body of the woman below him, he had been afraid to even move a muscle. He feared that, just in case when he moved, she might awaken and leave him alone in his lonely bed.

When he had finally assured himself that she wasn’t going to awaken and leave him anytime soon, he had given into his profound desire to touch her.

At first he had touched her as gently as he could manage. Tightly reigning in his ravenous desire to possess every inch of her perfectly formed body. He had tenderly stroked her silky skin, delighted to find it felt just as soft as it looked. He made sure to keep his touch to a physical whisper, afraid that if he touched her any firmer she would disappear like the dream he was so sure she really was.

His first caress had enticed a breathy moan from the sleeping girl; further gentle touches had her stretching her naked body out before she had raised herself up to meet him.

Almost terrified he had slowly lowered his mouth to touch the side of her neck. Unable to resist the temptation to taste her any longer. Feeling no desire to bite into her succulent skin, he had instead began to leisurely kiss and taste the surface of her delicate skin.

Needing to get closer he had manouvered himself till he lounged completely over her, using the strength of his arms to keep his greater weight from crushing down onto her.

No sooner had he assumed this new position than he felt the hot press of her body against his own rigid body as she propelled herself up into him. If that had not been torturous enough she then began to use this new leverage to rub herself slowly into him making his whole body tremble with the force of his desire. He fought the instinct which demanded he push back into her as her soft curves brushed rhythmically against his burgeoning erection.

Taking several deep breaths that he didn’t really need he watched closely as she took one great lunge upwards as her long arms surrounded his torso. Before he could figure out what exactly she was up to now, she had parted her long golden legs and wrapped them tightly around his own waist. Now she was completely and tightly wrapped around his own tense form.

Unsure what she was trying to do with this new position he had used his own strength to keep himself rigidly held in place as he awaited her next move.

As she allowed her full body weight to hang onto him Angelus momentarily stayed still. Trying to figure out exactly what it was she wanted to achieve with this new position.

At her first small bounce and it’s following tug he realized she was trying, without much success, to use her own much slighter body to pull his larger, stronger form down.

Smirking slightly he allowed her one more bounce and tug before giving in and allowing her body to pull him downwards.

He then found himself echoing her sigh of pleasure as he found himself lying on top of her at long last.

He bit back sharply on the desire he had to purr as he felt the scorching heat of her body seep into his own perpetually cold form. For the first time in centuries he felt the warmth of a willing human body pressed against his own.

For the first time, he felt no desire to feed or kill, as he lay so closely entwined with a warm, alive feminine body.

All he wanted was to submerge himself in her warm female body. To become one with her.

He could feel her wet core burning him with the sheer heat of her desire. Her desire for him, and him alone.

Drawing in a deep, unneeded breath he inhaled the intoxicating aroma of her arousal. As he made it part of him, it fuelled his own arousal to even higher insurmountable heights.

Next went his sanity, what little there was left of it, as she began to torturously rub herself against his hard aching body.

Unable to stop himself any longer Angelus began to thrust back in deliberately hard movements against her hungry body.

***

Cordelia could feel an deep, intense tug coming from the furthest depth of her achingly aroused body.

Completely without her approval she could feel her body respond to it’s own instinctive need for completion. An instinct older than time itself took over and she allowed it to do so willingly, wantonly.

This elemental call could not, would not, be denied and by now the only thing she wanted was to feel her body as it exploded into the cascade of release it so desperately needed.

Soundless she gave herself over to her body’s instinctive drive and her partner’s obvious expertise.

Mindless in her passion she grabbed onto him tightly. Under her hands she could feel the firm, broad muscles of his strong back. Without thinking she found herself digging her sharp nails into his flesh, causing him to growl loudly at the added painful stimuli.

The tightness in her loins grew to almost unbearable heights as she felt her partner take control as two large hands grabbed her hips, pulled them apart.

Valiantly but without success she tried to hold him down on top of her as she felt her body climb ever higher. Her release imminent. But he wouldn’t allow her to pull him back and used his strength to stop her doing just that.

Just as Cordelia felt ready to scream out in sheer unbridled frustration, she heard a gentle calming voice call out to her, soothing her. She couldn’t make out any of the words being whispered in her ear but she did feel herself calm greatly.

Taking a deep breath, she felt herself relax. At the very moment she felt something hard and cool push at her over heated entrance making her desire sky-rocket once again.

***

Taking back control of their assignation Angelus forced the hot feminine body away from his own, biting back his own growl of frustration. Grabbing her by her small waist, he removed the hips which had been frantically moving against his own.

He felt her attempts to try and pull him back. He could also sense her growing anger and frustration at his refusal to give into her demands. Bending down he whispered softly in her ear, hoping to calm her down. Shushing her with gently nonsensical murmurs as he adjusted himself enough as to bring his impossibly hard erection into direct contact with her sopping hot entrance. Which had until a moment ago been rubbing against him scorching him intimately.

Looking down into her passion flushed face he could clearly see the frustration and need etched in every crevice.

Feeling his way, he got himself in perfect line with her wetness and began a slow torturous journey inside her raging hot body.

Once he finally found himself totally encased inside Cordelia’s tight body he let out a deep satisfied groan. Allowing her to wrap her impossibly long limbs around his hips, holding him buried deep inside her.

Reaching beneath her he ever so slightly tilted her pelvis which allowed him to go as deeply as possible inside her tight sheath.

After a moment of complete stillness he began to make even slow withdrawals followed by just as slow re-entrances.

Every single thrust felt like sheer, absolute torture but unlike other tortures this wasn’t one in pain but intense pleasure. He had known no other torture so enjoyable as this one and he did not wish to end anytime soon.

Every time he pulled out, Cordelia would tighten her thighs and pull him back in quicker and stronger than the time before.

***

Cordelia had never known such pleasure existed. She felt her body exploding with almost painful intensity as he continued to ram his hard erection deep into her convulsing sheath.

Somehow, deep inside her, she knew he would reach his peek very soon. But before he did she felt the need for one last thing. She knew he needed it just as much, if not more so, than she herself did. Without thinking she released the hold she had on his back and moving up she grabbed at his head as he attempted to strain away from her.

With all her power she yanked his head downwards and felt his face press against her neck. As she did she felt something was different.

She could feel hard ridges press into her tingling skin. But rather than frightening her, she could feel her pleasure begin to mount once again. Pushing her neck closer to his hard face she felt the brush of sharp, razor like teeth touch against her skin.

As his thrusts became more and more frantic, she hugged his head to her with all her might. And just before she felt her body explode once again, she felt a sharp prick as her lover’s fangs pierced her skin. Gasping deeply she felt him sink his fangs deeper into her previously flawless neck.

Pleasure unlike any she had felt before swept through her body. Cordelia could feel her body tingle coolly as she felt her blood slowly exit her body as her lover sucked at her life’s blood. Sipping shallowly, he allowed her blood to seep into his own mouth before it slipped smoothly down his parched throat.

As a second more powerful orgasm rushed through her body, she felt three sharp deep thrusts as the hard large organ inside swelled impossibly harder inside her for just a second before she felt a massive rush of cool semen flood her insides.

Her lover continued to feed slowly from her as their bodies both calmed. And they came down slowly from their orgasms.

As the final ripples receded she felt the fangs, which held her throat captive release slowly and finally let go.

As his long, rough tongue leisurely cleansed the small wounds Cordelia found herself relaxing towards an exhausted sleep.

***

Slowly letting go of the delicate neck beneath his fangs Angelus began to lick clean the twin marks marring the beautiful skin. Deliberately he made sure to permeate his mark, imbedding his scent as deeply into the wounds as he could manage.

As he finished cleaning and permeating his mark he could feel sleep begin to grasp at their still joined bodies. Fighting against it he moved so he would fall to the bed beside her rather than chance crushing her beneath his much heavier body. As he felt himself slip from her tight body, he felt rather than saw the room around him change and alter.

The last thing he heard, before waking up alone in his own bed at the mansion, was Cordelia cry out his name in obvious distress.

Shooting upright with a growl, Angelus quickly shot his gaze around his empty room. In game face he examined every inch of the entire dark room which surrounded him.

Nobody else, except him, was present in the room or the bed. Much to his disgust.

Especially no Cordelia.

Never in all his centuries had he had such a vivid dream.

As he lay back down flat on his bed, he turned onto his side towards the empty half of his bed. Where until just moments before he could have sworn Cordelia was, he curled up in his lonely bed and attempting to return to the sanctuary of sleep.

Maybe she would be waiting to meet him there. He hoped she was, as he already felt the cold harsh reality which was his life impede on him once again. Almost like a heavy depressing weight around his neck, trying to choke him.

With a deep sense of growing depression, he allowed himself to drift off into what he knew would be a dreamless sleep. But as he floated away one thought niggled at him …

If this had just been an amazing a wet dream … then why could he still taste her blood as it lingered on his tongue and deep inside his dead body….?
***

Cordelia jerked awake with a cry. Reaching out in distress towards the other side of her empty bed. Needing the comfort that only her lover could give her.

But no-one else was here. The other side of her king-sized bed was empty, just like it always had been.

Apart from this being the most realistic, hotly passionate dream she had ever experienced in her short life. Several things about it kept disturbing her.

One was that if this way just a dream, then why was her body still vibrating with the pleasure of her two deeply intense orgasms? The type of orgasms only written about in romance novels. The type that didn’t exist in real life.

And second and most disturbing thing of all was her body and soul was still crying out for her dream lover.

A dream lover who didn’t actually exist. Not anymore … that’s if he ever existed in reality as the man, or rather demon, she had dreamed up was in fact one of the most feared vampires of all time.

So of all the people, dead and alive, she could have dreamt up such an encounter.

Why oh why was her lover….

ANGELUS!!!!!!!
Part Three:

Dream-Lovers and Mortal Enemies
MORNING
The next morning saw a confused and quite frankly frustrated young woman awaken. Late for her school day for the first time in like, forever.

Internally berating herself as she went, Cordelia quickly rushed her way through her morning shower. As she stood in front of her bathroom mirror she got her first clear look at her neck.

A quick cursory look whilst brushing her teeth failed to alert her of the small redness at the left side of her normally flawless neck where two small holes were clearly visible.

It wasn’t until she was rushing through her usual beauty routine that the two small red marks on her neck came to her attention. Normally she would be more than a little annoyed with this imperfection marring her skin. But somehow, now, this didn’t seem to concern her in the least.

Somewhere, buried deep inside her, she connected these marks with her strange dream. Raising her hand to her neck, she gently caressed her fingers over the small puncture marks.

As soon as her finger made contact with them, she felt a small sharp electric like shock rush through her system.

Suddenly last night’s strange dream came rushing back into her mind in full Technicolor.

Every caress and touch was remembered. As was all the feelings and desires which shot through her nervous system.

Unbidden her hands began to smooth a line down her now tingling body. Before she discern just what she was doing, she had pushed her short skirt up her thighs, until it lay bunched around her hips.

Without thinking she allowed her hands to dictate their own actions, but they weren’t – it was if some external force was guiding her every move. Almost like she was a puppet on a string, while some mysterious puppeteer was commanding her every movement.

Soon she felt her own scorching heat on coat her fingertips as she inserted one, and then two of her own long fingers into her aching vagina. As her fingers caressed the inside of her own body, her thumb began to slowly rub over the small bundle of nerves posed of the outside of her entrance.

Slipping off into her own little dream world where her lover awaited her, she no longer felt her own hand move on her own body. Soon much larger, stronger and rougher fingers replaced her own. But they were in no way uncomfortable, exactly opposite in fact. These fingers definitely belonged to a man. The cool feel of his ice-cold skin, rather than chill her, increased her pleasure no end.

A large calloused thumb began to move on her hard bundle of nerves. Without her permission her hips began to move in time with the hand pleasuring her so expertly.

Tilting her head to her right, she gasped and then groaned in pleasure as a cool mouth began to place soft butterfly kisses on her neck. Soon a wet tongue began to lick slowly down her neck making sure progress towards the two small puncture wounds she had acquired just last night.

Just like before the second she felt the mouth cover the marks she groaned loudly and once again attempted to force the lips to touch her more strongly.

She could feel a second strong hand caress her breasts through the blouse and bra covering them, as the fingers inside her quickened their stroking and pleasuring.

Rocking her body more steadily Cordelia enjoyed the added pressure, pressing her entire body back into the strong hard male body standing directly behind her.

Just as she felt the slight tightening deep inside her, she called for her lover to take her, and take her now.

Within seconds she felt the sharp prick of his fangs enter her neck, reopening the wound he had first placed there only the night before.

Soon the welcoming coolness she had felt last night also returned as she felt her blood being sipped out of her. So the intense tingling inside her began to mount.

To her surprise, as she touched the marks, she felt a slightly sticky substance adhere her fingertips.

Moving her hand closer to her face she soon identified the substance as her own blood. But instead of panicking she simply smiled a smile of pure feminine contentment and whispered her lover’s name aloud once more.

“Angelus..”
***
Across town Angelus awakened from another very vivid dream, bringing his right hand up to his face he closed his eyes as he slowly inhaled the scent present on his skin.

Snaking his tongue out he timidly licked at the tip of his forefinger and came back with the intensely feminine taste. One which he clearly remembered from his dream the night before.

Running his tongue around his mouth, he was surprised to note he was once again in his natural face. Whilst he carefully traced his way around his sharp fangs he once again tasted the spicy aroma of Cordelia’s blood.

Lying back down on his bed he closed his eyes as visions entered his head.

Visions of himself, standing behind a fully-dressed Cordelia as she stood before a full length mirror. Touching her with his hands, burying his fingers deep inside her body as he tasted her wonderful blood flowing down his throat. Intensely sexual visions that came rushing back to him as he felt his own body respond.

He could feel her body contract around his fingers as he gently fed from his mark once again. Looking up he could see only her as she exploded in pleasure, calling out his name, reflected back at them from within the mirror’s surface.
EVENING: CORDELIA’S BEDROOM
After an incredibly long day at school, most of which passed her in a dreamlike state, Cordelia was finally able to go home.

Forgoing her usual cheerleaders practice with the aid of a white lie, saying that she wasn’t feeling well, she managed to make it home. Avoiding any of the Scoobies, and most especially Xander, in the process.

Her neck wounds were covered up by wearing a neck scarf, hence avoiding any and all awkward questioning that the two small holes would normally have aroused. Most particularly around the likes of Buffy and Xander. She shuddered to think of their reaction if they ever did see them. She could just imagine what Giles’ response and following lecture would be like.

Thanks … but no thanks!!

The last thing Cordelia felt like doing was answering questions about her strange dreams. But then the word dreams would lead you to believe they only happened when she was asleep. And Cordelia had experienced one whilst she was, very much, wide awake this morning.

This had made her even later for school than she had been originally, but the same white lie, which had gotten her out of practice, aided her in explaining her earlier absence from class.

So here she was at home, alone as usual, wishing she were somewhere else.

She really wanted to go back to sleep and dream about Angelus once again. No matter how weird or sick that sounded, she wanted nothing more than to be wrapped up in his arms. Safe and sound from the evils of the outside world.

Her body, soul and heart called out to her dream lover.

No matter how much her brain tried to tell them he was languishing in Hell, unlikely ever to see the light of day, she couldn’t stop the yearning inside her growing.

She just knew he was much closer to her than that!!

Or he would be real soon, she just knew that for a fact!!

Unable to stand the four walls of her bedroom for a moment longer, Cordelia grabbed her coat and headed out the door.

She had no idea where she was going, but she would know when she got there.
ANGELUS’ BEDROOM
Angelus impatiently awaited nightfall, glancing out the bedroom window failed in making the sunset any sooner, but he couldn’t stop himself doing it.

After an early awakening, plus the added daydream that followed, only served to confuse the vampire even more than he had been after last night’s erotic activities.

A call from a ‘friend’ hoping to get into Angelus’ good graces warned him that word had gotten to the Slayer that he had returned.

So now he had to wonder how to deal with Buffy, without killing her or any of her friends, which would buy him that one-way ticket back to Hellsville. That was one trip that he wasn’t willing to take. Especially not now, considering the events which had occurred since seeing ‘her’ last night.

Shaking himself he decided he might as well go feed prior to going out. It would pass some time as well as cut down his chance of having to deal with hunger pangs while being around as many humans as he would be this evening.

For this evening he was going to have to face the old gang.

Grimacing he headed out of his suite towards the kitchen and his waiting bag of pig’s blood.
THE LIBRARY
Buffy couldn’t believe the news.

There had been several sightings of Angelus, or perhaps Angel, last night in and around Willie’s Bar.

Restless and impatient for verification she headed out as soon as school was out and woke up Willie, after a few pushes and punches he told her that yes he was back.

But what perturbed her was it would seem that it was Angelus, not Angel as she had hoped, that had been the one to return.

If this was true, why had no-one turned up dead yet? Also if Angelus was actually back, why hadn’t he made a move against her by now?

If truth be known, things had been very quiet since she had sent Angelus off to hell, closing the opening which he had created in the process.

Now it would seem he was back once again to torture her, make her life a living misery. All the while making a mockery out of her love for Angel, and his for her.

How could he have possible returned from Hell itself?

She had no idea, and neither did Giles when she had approached him with the news.

Why was he back?

Again they had drawn a blank, the only thing for sure was that no good would come of it.

The only good news they had going for them was the fact a new, powerful warrior was due to arise around about now. He would surely be a great help in dealing with the evil vampire.

She had no idea what perverted game he was playing, hiding from her, but she knew it was only a matter of time before he pounced on them destroying all their lives once again.

Turning back towards Giles and the rest of her friends, Buffy watched them as they continued to search for any sources to explain Angelus’ return.

Also they were trying to find out who the strange man with Angelus was? At first they assumed that he was just another vampire. But that had soon been dismissed as they had found out that he had been seen around town shopping during the daylight, several times in fact, over the past week alone.

While researching wasn’t the way she would prefer to get her answers, it was necessary at this point. They couldn’t just confront Angelus without something to back them up in case he was about to re-open hell again or something.

God-only knows what powers that small untidy man, who they had discovered was staying with him at the mansion, was really capable of. After all if he was in the one with the ability to bring Angelus back from hell itself, they couldn’t chance underestimating how much power he really did have.

So until which time the had all the answers the needed, research it was.

Heaving a final sigh Buffy returned to her own book as they all continued to search out the answers for their many questions in vane.

Regardless of whatever possibilities had run through their minds, none of them would be ready for what they would hear before this night ended.

Because unbeknownst to them all, even as Buffy herself pondered and they all researched, Angelus was getting ready to leave his mansion.

Silently he closed his front door, walking briskly out into the night with his fellow housemate by his side. They melding quickly into the darkness as they made their way towards a confrontation they weren’t sure any of them were ready for just yet.

But then, there were serious doubts any of them would ever be ready for what was about to happen on this very night.
***
Willow glanced up from her book as Buffy strode past her for what seemed like the millionth time that evening. Ever since word of Angelus’ return had reached her ears she had been restless and upset. Not that anyone could blame her given her own personal history with the evil vampire.

It seemed totally unbelievable that anyone could return from the bowels of Hell itself. But then if anyone was capable of finding a way out it was Angelus.

Sighing Willow returned her attention to her book.

When the doors to the library swung open it immediately attracted the attention of four bored teenagers present.

All of them froze as they recognized the person standing just inside the doorway.

After a tense minute of complete stunned silence, a sharp scream of intense anger was heard as Buffy shook out of her reverie and lurched towards the still vampire. Intent on one thing, and one thing alone, dusting him and removing his presence from her life once and for all.

Angelus tensed as the small blonde body barrelled towards him, preparing to defend himself the best his deal with the Oracles would allow. This would be as good a time as any to test his limitations.

Buffy screeched to a halt as a unknown man stepped in front of the vampire, barring her way. Frowning she prepared to order him to move out of her way when he spoke to her.

“Now let’s not be having any unnecessary violence.”

Doyle fidgeted under her fierce gaze for only a second before trying again to make her listen to reason, before attacking and doing something stupid, like say … killing the Power’s newest champion.

“There is a perfectly good reason behind Angelus’ return from Hell and if you will just give us a chance we’ll be more than happy to tell you all about it. Alright?”

“Listen Mister I don’t know who you are nor do I care any *but* I will not be stopped from sending him back to Hell where he belongs.” Buffy retorted.

She then waited a few seconds for the stranger to move out of her way. When he didn’t she reached out to and grabbed his arm ordering him, “Get out of my way so I can do my job!”

The small man proved a lot more difficult to move than Buffy would ever have thought as she tugged a second time in vain before demanding irritably that he remove himself from her path.

“For once in your life will you try listening Slayer!” Angelus interrupted her before she could order Doyle out of her way for a third time.

“Don’t you dare tell me what to do Angelus,” Buffy placed her clenched fists on her hips barely resisting the urge to jump across the stranger to get to Angelus. “I don’t take orders from you.”

“I’m not giving you any orders, I just need to tell you a few things before removing myself from pleasure of your presence.” He ended on a growl as he suppressed the desire to turn right around and leave but he knew he needed to inform her of his reasons for being returned from Hell so that she didn’t go getting in his way.

“I can think of a perfect way to remove you from my presence permanently if your friend here will just get out to my way for two seconds.”

Angelus let out a derisive snort at her confidence. “It would take a lot more than two seconds Buff,” he smiled coldly at her response to his old nickname, “And isn’t there some sort of rule against one force for good dusting another?”

His smile grew broader at her obvious shock at his words.

The inevitable question when it came did not come from the blonde before him but from the man who had come to stand behind her.

“Since when were you ever a force for good Angelus?”

“What took you so long Watcher?”

“Just answer my question before I allow Buffy to dust you,” Giles ordered ignoring his question.

“What question would that be Giles?” Angelus taunted purposely ignoring any knowledge of his original question.

“Since when have you been a force of good?” Giles repeated before tacking on a warning. “And I suggest you answer truthfully as this will be your last chance to do so.”

“Well it’s just like this Rupert old man. I am now a force for good. I’ve gone and joined all you white hats. Seen the error of my evil ways, so to say. Aren’t you pleased for me?”

“Don’t even joke Angelus, this is your last warning. Now explain yourself and make it quick.”

“Alright, alright, don’t get your panties in a twist Watcher. I have been given a free pass from Hell curtesy of the Powers That Be, who I am now working for. Aren’t you going to congratulate me on my new job?”

Angelus smirked as he scanned all the faces before him noticing one that was missing. Returning his gaze to Xander who sat next to the redheaded witch doing a good impression of a fish with his mouth opening and shutting silently.

“Tell me Xander, where is the delightful Cordelia? Don’t tell me she finally saw the light and got herself another boyfriend?”

Angelus licked his lips as visions of the brunette who haunted his dreams whilst both asleep and awake entered his head.

“You leave Cordelia alone you evil pervert or I’ll …”

“You’ll what Harris? Don’t tell me you’ve finally grown some balls while I’ve been away?”

“Xander hush, don’t let him goad you!” Willow whispered urgently making the vampire smile directly at her causing her to blush and Oz to growl out a warning.

“All of you be quiet,” Giles ordered completely out of patience as he moved to stand directly beside the vampire. “Now Angelus do you really expect us to believe that you are working for The Power That Be? How gullible do you believe we are?”

“I am working for them, Doyle here will tell you,” Angelus gestured to the smaller man in front of him. “I was sitting around Hell, bored out of my mind after the first few decades when I was summoned before the Oracles and offered a get out of jail free card.”

“Why on Earth would the Oracles want to make you such an offer?”

Before Angelus could answer him Buffy butted in impatient to end all this talk and get onto the dusting.

“Giles just who are the Oracles or the Powers That Be?”

“Buffy not now,” Giles impatiently but softly ordered, “I’ll explain later alright?”

At her reluctant nod he turned back to the vampire awaiting his answer.

“Maybe Doyle could explain it better, he’s been my link to them from the beginning and he’s worked for the powers longer than I have.” he suggested just wanting to leave altogether but knowing there was no chance of that till all the watcher’s questions were answered. And he wasn’t sure he had answers for all the questions Giles was sure to have.

“Alright, let’s all sit down and get this over with,” Giles gestured towards the long table were three teenagers currently sat in open mouthed amazement.

As they all went to sit, Giles and all four teens on one side and the vampire and his companion on the other, Giles issued one last warning.

“This is no way means I believe a single word of this but if this proves a waste of time or there is a single sign of either of you causing the least bit of bother, I will personally stake you myself. And we will keep weapons close at hand!”

With that he placed a crossbow on the table before him as he took his seat next to his slayer awaiting the coming meeting with much trepidation.
***
Cordelia slowly approached the library unsure why she was even there in the first place. After the strange but erotic dream last night she wasn’t in any way eager to face any of the Scoobies let alone the ex-girlfriend of the man, or rather vampire, who had haunted her dreams. Not to mention the daydream so had had standing before her bedroom mirror this morning.

Sighing deeply she readjusted the scarf around her neck one last time before she pushed open the library door.

Stepping inside she first noticed the silence, nothing unusual in a library, but glancing at the long table in the center of the room she saw all four Scoobies sitting completely still. That in itself was strange but the fact they were staring at her as if she was intruding immediately raised her hackles. Her confusion grew as she noticed Giles seated between the four teenagers. Why on Earth were they all squashed together on one side of the table like that? And more importantly why were they all glaring at her like that?

Their continued silence and hard looks finally grated on Cordelia’s last nerve as she strode purposely into the room demanding loudly as she did.

“What are you all looking at me like that? Have a suddenly grown a second head or are my stunning good looks just proving too much for your simple minds to cope with?”

“Cordelia!” Giles’ warning went unheeded as the brunette charged across to stand next to the table.

“What are you doing here?”

Cordelia rolled her eyes, “I don’t know Buffy. Is it possible I need to borrow a book? After all this still is a library, even though you guys obviously think of it as your own private playhouse.” Leaning down to look the blonde in the eye she asked, “Do you guys have a secret handshake or something? Or do you have an initiation ritual you have to preform to join your elite little club?”

“Don’t worry about it Cordelia, you will never be asked to joined anyway. You’d never be able to hit our high standards.”

Giles’ voice cut in stopping any further exchange between to two girls. “That’s enough from both of you. If you are in need of a book Cordelia I suggest to retrieve it and leave. We are in the middle of something important here.”

Frowning at his words she took the disguised order to leave. Turning on her heel she prepared to do just that when she saw for the first time the two men seated on the opposite side of the table. She gasped in surprise as he recognized the vampire, her heartbeat speeding up as her body reacted to seeing the man who had dominated all her thoughts since her dream the night before.

Her eyes met Angelus’ as she could almost swear he was feeling the same attraction she was. Without a single thought she felt the almost uncontrollable desire to go to the seated vampire and throw herself into his arms.

All other noise was blocked out except that sound of her own erratic heartbeat as she sank into Angelus’ eyes. Unable to pull her eyes away from his she stood dizzily on her feet as she felt the heat inside her grow.

Tilting her head slightly she licked her lips attracting his attention to them as she bit the inside of her mouth. The throbbing of her body increased as she allowed her own gaze to drop to his full mouth.

As his eyes moved to the scarf around her neck she could swear she felt the bite hidden under the fabric begin to ache in anticipation.

Her hand shot up to press against the bite as if the pressure would stop the growing ache. His eyes flashed at her action as his nostrils flared at the sweet aroma of her desire reached out to him enraging his own.

Giles’ cleared his throat noisily as the vampire and cheerleader continued to have eyes only for each other. The tension in the room growing suffocating as the air practically crackled between the couple watching each other so closely. Both of whom were completely oblivious to anybody else in the room.

Buffy felt her anger at Angelus’ reappearance in her life change to something almost akin to jealousy at the way he was looking at the other girl. Unable to take the sight to the two so enraptured people anymore she jumped to her feet grabbing the other girl’s arm.

Angelus growled at the way Buffy grabbed at Cordelia, Doyle’s hand on his own arm stopping him from raising to his own feet. Glaring at his friend briefly he quickly turned his attention back to the two girls emitting another louder growl at seeing Cordelia wince as Buffy’s grip tightened.

Shaking off the grip on her arm Cordelia glared at the smaller girl demanding loudly, “What your damage?”

“My damage?”

“Yeah your damage? Since when do you get off grabbing at me like that? Your in big trouble if I get so much as one single bruise.”

Cordelia flipped her long hair over her shoulder before walking around the two men to sit down in the seat next to the vampire shooting the rest of them a defiant look.

Angelus smiled broadly as the young woman sat beside him daring anyone to make her move. Leaning back nonchalantly he waited for anyone to make the next move.

Giles shot one last look at the teenager deciding it was more trouble than it was worth trying to get her to move to another seat. Sighing deeply in frustration he took off his glasses cleaning them furiously before imploring his charge to sit down. Once she had retaken her seat by him he replaced his glasses before returning to the job in hand.

“All right, let’s get this over and done with shall we?” Giles asked rhetorically before addressing Doyle. “I believe you were about to explain to us all about the Powers that Be?”

“The Powers that Be?” Cordelia asked, looking up at Giles in surprise.

“It’s bad enough your staying, do you have to speak too?”

Cordelia glared at the slayer but refused to respond to either her dirty look or snarky words.

Hearing the low growling of the vampire sitting on her right Cordelia placed a hand on his arm. Calming him and thanking him for his concern on her behalf. Ignoring the glares she got from those sitting opposite them at her action.

Completely comfortable with touching the vampire Cordelia left her hand where it was as Giles turned his attention back to the stranger sitting on the other side of Angelus.

“So Doyle, that is your name I believe Angelus said, you were about to explain about the Powers that Be and Angelus’ connection with them.”

“Aye. Doyle’s the name. I work for the Powers and they sent me here to Sunnydale to meet up with Angelus when he was returned here by them.”

“Well what do the Powers have to do with Angelus? I can’t see how they would wish to see the likes of him running around on Earth. It makes no sense at all.”

“Don’t sugar-coat it watcher. Tell me how you really feel about me.” Angelus drawled, enjoying the other man’s obvious discomfort.

“Believe me, I will Angelus. Now how about the Powers? Why on Earth did they want to release Angelus? What purpose would it serve?”

Before Doyle could decide which question to answer first Buffy once again interrupted.

“What are the Powers, Giles? How can the possible be able to bring him back from Hell? It’s just not possible.”

She glared at the vampire in question before turning her eyes to the brunette beside him for good measure.

“The Powers that Be are mystical beings. Supposed to be very powerful, not a lot is known about them. Not for a fact anyway.”

“Then how do you know about them Giles?” Willow asked quietly interrupting, but increasingly curious.

“There are mentions of such beings in some of the older prophecies and books. But a lot of people believe they were just demons who died centuries ago and the tales about them have been greatly exagerrated. Others believe they actual do exist but as they very rarely get involved with the lives of mortals they have been all but forgotten, except for as myths or legends.”

“They exist alright, I can tell you that for a fact.” Doyle put in firmly.

“Of course they do, I thought everybody knew that!” Cordelia snorted amusedly.

“What are you …”

Buffy was cut off by Giles who looked at the teenager in shocked surprise.

“Cordelia are you trying to tell me you know about the Powers?”

“Yes. Of course I know all about the Powers. I’m just really surprised you don’t! I thought you learnt all about these things in watcher school?”

“You expect us to believe you know about these Powers and Giles doesn’t? You think we believe you know better than him? Right! That will be the day, you only know what you read in fashion magazines and I seriously doubt they mention the Powers anyway.”

Angelus tensed, growled and began to rise, only to be pulled back down by both Doyle and Cordelia who grabbed an arm each.

“For your information Buffy I happen to know a lot about the Powers.”

“Really?”

At her sneered question Cordelia rolled her eyes, turning her attention to Doyle.

“If you don’t mind Doyle?”

“Go ahead Princess!” he returned smoothly, sitting back in his seat.

Crossing his arms over his chest, he settled down to listen. Something telling him Cordelia was about to surprise them all.

“The Powers that Be are mystical beings, of the highest and most powerful order. They are in charge of keeping the balance between good and evil. Normally they don’t interfere, it’s against their rules. But to keep the balance they have Warriors who fight for them in all dimensions. Not only this one. Generally they communicate via the Oracles, who I guess you can call their spokespersons. Also for each Warrior under their command there is also a Seer who guides the Warrior to what fights the Powers wish him or her to fight on their behalf. And if I don’t miss my guess Doyle here is such a Seer, right?”

“Dead on the mark there Princess. If ya don’t mind me saying? Yer pretty well informed about the Powers. I’m surprised and more than a little impressed.”

Cordelia preened and laughed at the other man. She had the feeling they were going to become good friends. And she looked forward to the prospect.

“Thanks!”

“Cordelia that’s quite impressive. Where did you get all this information from?” Giles asked, genuinely interested.

“Pillow talk with some demon probably!” Buffy snorted causing her friends to look at her in open-mouthed shock.

“No Buffy I think your having a flash back to when Angelus was released for the first time.”

At Cordelia’s words Buffy jumped to her feet, lunging across the table dividing them to grab at the other girl. She immediately found herself facing an extremely pissed off vampire as Angelus placed himself in front of Cordelia protectively.

“Back off Slayer!” he snarled warningly as Giles pushed his charge back down into her seat.

“That’s enough! Now the sooner we get this over and down with, the better. And it will be over a lot sooner if everybody refrains from these asinine comments.”

Giles glared warningly at both the girls in turn before sitting back down in his own seat.

“So now we all know who the Powers that Be are, can we get back to the orginal question. What is Angelus’ link to them?”

“He’s one of their Warriors.” Cordelia responded smiling broadly at her own cleverness at figuring it out before any of the rest did.

“Don’t be so stupid Cordelia!” Buffy snapped. “But then again look who I am talking to!”

“Hey!” Cordelia objected loudly as Giles shot another warning glance towards the slayer.

“She’s right.” Doyle confirmed firmly, not at all liking the young blonde’s treatment of the other girl. “Angelus is one of the Powers Warriors sure enough. Why do ya think they would go to all the bother of getting outta Hell?”

As Giles and all the Scoobies looked on his shock, trying desperately to assimilate this information.

“So your saying that these Powers were so desperate for Warriors they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel now?” Buffy asked in disbelief.

Ignoring her Giles suddenly excitedly jumped to his feet, rushing into his office.

“Giles! What’s wrong?” Buffy shouted after him automatically picking up a crossbow and pointing it at the vampire opposite demanding. “What did you do to him?”

“He’s done nothing Buffy. Take a chill pill!” Cordelia ordered.

“Don’t tell me what to do Cordelia.”

“Then stop acting like an one-man judge and jury and I’ll consider it.”

Buffy looked at the irate girl but before she could think up an appropriate come-back Giles had returned.

Placing a small bundle of books and papers on the table he excitedly began to talk.

“All right, as you are all well aware I recently came across a new prophecy concerning Buffy …”

“Hard to forget,” Xander mumbled. “Before the return of the evil vamp here, we have spent every night researching it.”

Ignoring Xander’s disgusted tone Giles nodded. “Anyway from what we did manage to translate before we were side tracked Buffy was supposed to meet up with some new Warrior.”

Buffy looked at her watcher in disgusted astonishment. While Willow gasped loudly asking, “Giles do you really believe Angelus is that Warrior?”

“It certainly seems to be that way.” Giles reluctantly agreed. “But before we totally accept this to be fact, we need to do some serious research to collaberate that this is in fact the correct interpretation of this prophecy.”

Groans were heard from all the teens except two at his announcement. Buffy stood in complete shock at this revelation. Cordelia sat silent, trying valiantly not to stand up and scream out her pain at Giles’ interpretation of this prophecy. She just knew there was some majorly big mistake being made here. Something deep inside her was screaming out in denial. Angelus’ return was something to do with her, she just knew it, and nothing to do with the slayer!

Head pounding Cordelia rose to her feet, refusing to look at any of the others still seated around the table.

“Going somewhere Cordelia?”

Looking up at Giles question she still refused to acknowledge anyone else.

“I was thinking of heading home,” she responded calmly.

“Typical Cordelia,” Xander sniped. “Jump ship the second there is any real work to be done.”

“Why am I not surprised!” Buffy smirked exchanging amused glances with Xander.

Turning around Cordelia retraced her steps from the doors to stand in front of the laughing slayer.

“Make up your mind will you?” she demanded. “You’ve did nothing but bitch at me since I got here. Now I am actually doing what you wanted and am going to leave, you start bitching about that too. You can’t have it both ways you know.”

“Come on Cordelia, your over reacting.”

Turning her hostile eyes to Xander she lost what little control over her temper that was left.

“If I were you Xander I just wouldn’t go there.” Cordelia warned.

“Go where? You’ve been in a strange mood since ya got here. Arguing with Buffy for no reason and …”

Before he could go any further his girlfriend snapped.

“I told you not to go there. But seeings as your obviously too stupid I will explain it to you in little words so you can understand. I am sick and fed up with both you and your attitude. And do yourself a favor and don’t get me started on your friends here!”

As she began to shout the rest of the teenagers stood up, coming to gather loosely around the arguing couple.

Reaching out to calm down his irate girlfriend Xander couldn’t stop the flash of hurt her move back out of his touch caused inside him.

Cordy please you’ve got to calm down we have an important prophecy to …”

“Not one single word Xander,” Cordelia warned, holding up a silencing hand. “This has nothing to do with some stupid little prophecy. Not directly. I’m sick to death of all of you, I’m fed up having to put up with crap you believe is your right to heap on me. Take tonight for example … I turn up here to spend time with my own boyfriend. And what happens? I’ll tell you, I get treated to the Slayer Bitch’s version of a warm welcome. During which my boyfriend doesn’t so much as say ‘Hello’ let alone stand up for me. Which would be nice for just a change, just once Xander!!”

“Now Cordelia …” Giles tried to placate the upset brunette. Hoping to forestall the growing rage he could see in his charge.

“No Giles, just once I would like to have my say. For once Giles I would like you and everyone here to realize that although your life might revolve around Buffy, ours don’t! I am sick of being the only one to get told off, like tonight’s perfect example showed, when we argue. An argument I might add that I did NOT start but did everything to avoid.”

At Giles’ guilty expression Cordelia knew she would have no more interruptions from that quarter. Turning her attention back to Xander she took a deep breath.

“I always realized that I came a very far third with you. But if just once you put me first, I could’ve accepted it but I now know that will never happen I’m not willing to live with your crappy treatment anymore.”

“What are you saying?”

“Don’t tell me your that stupid Xander?” Angelus taunted, smirking.

“Stay outta this deadboy!!” Xander hotly spat before turning his attention back to his girlfriend.

“Leave him alone Xander!”

Xander looked at her in shocked surprise at her defence of the evil vampire. “Don’t tell me your standing up for him?”

“Well seeings as he’s the only one here who treated me halfway decent since I arrived here, oh sorry I’m not including you there Doyle …”

“Nae problem Princess!” Doyle assured her with a smile which she readily returned.

“Anyway I am not putting up with it any longer Xander. As of now you can consider yourself single, I know I will. And as for you Buffy, before I had no problem helping you guys fight the good fight. I admit I did more than my fair share of complaining but I still helped. But given you obvious dislike of me and my very presence, I won’t be making you suffer from now on. But as I tried to tell you weeks ago, keep acting like you have been and even if you do survive you’ll be very very lonely. Because you keep acting like the world revolves around you and only you, all those around you presently will eventually figure out that you being the slayer doesn’t give you the God given right to act as if your destiny is more important than theirs. It also doesn’t give you the right to treat them like you’ve been doing. For your own sake pay some attention to their lives and don’t let being the slayer totally rule over your life. I know it’s a majorly big resposibility but unlike your forebearers you have a lot of help here. Also the Powers will call in help if it’s needed. Your not the world’s only chosen Warrior. Giles if you need to know anything about the Powers, just call me.”

Leaving them all in stunned silence Cordelia breezed out of the library.
Part Four
Shocking the Scoobies!!!
As soon as Cordelia had swept out of the library. Leaving all the others behind her open-mouthed with shocked surprise. Angelus stood up, after exchanging a look with his companion, and followed her out of the still swinging doors.

Buffy watched his movements in stunned silence before shouting out to his departing back.

“Hey … just where do you think your going to?”

His only response was to throw her a disgusted look over his shoulder as he pushed through the double doors.

Turning towards the still seated man, she demanded irately. “Where is he off to? I wasn’t finished talking to him.”

Doyle gave her a look of amusement. “Is that what yer were doing is it? Cause from where I was sitting, ya were throwin’ a fine ‘an childish temper trantrum.”

“How dare you talk to me like this. Do you even know who you are speaking to?”

“Someone whose Daddy should’ve spanked a little more often?” Doyle mused. Laughing as her face turned bright red with temper.

“I’ve got a good mind to …” Buffy began. But before she could finish her threat Doyle cut her off.

“If yer had a good mind, I haven’t seen it yet!! Now if ya want me to answer any reasonable questions. Without any accusations or threats. I would be happy to give you your answers. But if ya can’t sit down and talk to me nice and politely, I suggest you leave the conversations to the growin’ ups.”

After a moment of stunned silence Doyle turned his attention towards the other man present.

“Now I can understand you havin’ questions ya might need answerin’. I would be happy to help ya wherever I can. But for all our sakes, please keep control over your charge.”

Giles stood quietly taking in the other man’s words before beginning to speak.

“All right Mr Doyle,” he agreed. “Do you know anything about this prophecy I have found.”

“I can’t be positive, mind you. But I know for sure there are more an a few concerning Angel. This was why it was so important to the Powers that he be given the chance to return.”

“But he isn’t Angel!” Buffy angrily cut in.

“Angelus is Angel, only without the soul he was cursed with.”

Before Buffy could argue further Giles spoke out.

“So as far as the Powers are concerned. Angel’s soul isn’t a contributing factor. Is that what your saying?”

“Of course they would’ve preferred he still have his soul. But many of these prophecies, foretold centuries before his human birth, are just too important to them to simply let go of.”

“So needing Angel to fulfill these prophecies the Powers decided to make this deal with Angelus.” Giles concurred.

“Pretty much. Yup.” Doyle agreed.

“Why not simply re-soul him before allowing him to return?” Giles asked.

“The Powers can’t interfere with what has already been done.”

“Releasing Angelus isn’t considered interfering? He was already in Hell, when they returned him.”

“It’s not the same at all, not by the mystic rules they’ve to abide by. To re-soul Angelus would be reversing his un-souling. But they didn’t simply return Angelus, they made a very specific deal with him first. An arrangement which was put in place, governing his return. If they had in fact just reversed the descent into Hell, then he would be just as he was during his time after he lost his soul. No rules, no regulations, nothing to govern his actions. Nothing to stop him randomly maiming and killing without remorse. There might seem no differences on the surface, but there are many within scratching distance of the surface.”

“Hmm … I can understand what you are alluding to. But do you know much about the specifics of this prophecy?”

“I don’t think it’s possible I will be able to tell you exact details, unless I’m sent a vision. But I’m willing to try to help. Maybe something we’ve already translated will jog a memory. I’ve only been in the Powers employ for about three and a half years. And bear in mind I am only a messenger when it comes down to it.”

“How about I bring you all the information and translations I already have done? Tomorrow might be better, we have all been through enough tonight, as it is. So how do I reach you?”

Doyle dragged his attention back to the man standing waiting at his side. “What was that man?”

“I asked how I can get in touch with you tomorrow sometime?”

“I’m staying at Angelus’ mansion, I’m generally there most of the day. Apart from grocery shopping trips.”

“All right I will come by tomorrow with all the relevant information on the prophecy.”

Noting Doyle’s preoccupation once again Giles couldn’t resist asking. “Is something wrong?”

“What are they up to exactly?” Doyle asked. Pointing to the four teenagers crowded together, speaking in furious whispers.

“I’m not at all sure,” Giles admitted. “But I don’t believe I like it.”

“Me neither.”

Both men walked over to the teenagers, all the while hearing words such as ‘curse’ and ‘soul’ being said back and forth.

“What is going on here?” Giles asked, reaching the table.

“Wh-What?” Willow nervously stuttered.

“What are you all whispering about?” Giles firmly asked, staring directly at Buffy.

“We’re not up to anything Giles,” Buffy responded. Taking in her bright smile Giles sincerely doubted that.

“I just hope for all our sakes you are not up to anything foolish.”

“Foolish? You should know us better than that.” Xander replied, shooting an unsure glance at Buffy.

Seeing this further convinced Giles that they were up to something. Knowing he would get no further with them just then, he issued one final warning.

“I hope for all your sakes that you are telling me the truth. But if your not, you better think carefully beforehand. And if you still decide to do whatever you are planning, please run it by me first. Especially if there is to be any magic involved!”

Willow’s surprised gasp assured him that he was on the right track with his suspicions. With one last warning glance he left the teens to their secretive whispering.
***
Cordelia made it to her car before her bravado gave out completely. Slouching against her car, she rested her head on her folded arms. The cool of her car’s roof chilling her arms through the material of her jacket.

Refusing to give them all the satisfaction of her tears, she choked them back.

The feeling of someone touching her frightening her into jumping.

Swinging around her scream caught in her throat. Fear was replaced by surprise.

“Angelus. You surprised me. Did you want something?”

“I was going to ask you that,” he admitted.

“Oh really? How come?”

“I thought, what with what happened in there, you might need something.”

“Like what?” Cordelia asked brightly. “A shoulder to cry on? He’s not worth it.”

“He?”

“Xander. Unless I have broken up with another looser guy tonight.”

“I wasn’t only talking about your breaking up with that idiot. That you should have done ages ago.” Cordelia couldn’t help but to smile at that statement. “But I was talking about all the stuff with the slayer. I’m surprised you didn’t just smack her one.”

“Believe me when I say I was more than a little bit tempted. But as we’re talking about the girl who could knock me into the next century. Quite literally! I figure it wasn’t such a bright idea.”

“I would never have let her hurt you. You should have just went for it.”

“Don’t ask me why but I believe you.” Cordelia confided.

“Thanks.”

“Your welcome. But I still wouldn’t do it.”

“Why not?”

Leaning in close, Cordelia spoke in a conspiritable whisper. “I’d be too worried about breaking my hand on her face.”

Laughing along with her Angelus was enchanted with the sheer beauty of her smiling, happy face.

“I can well understand that!” Angelus agreed. “So are you heading straight home now?”

“That’s the plan anyway.”

After a few moments of silene. As they each waited for the other one to say something. Say anything. Angelus came to a instant decision. Not wanting to loose her company just yet.

“How about we go grab some coffee. Or maybe a drink … a soft drink of course. Don’t want Giles or anyone to accuse me of contributing to the deliquency of a minor.”

“What did you have in mind?”

“Well if you feel safe enough with me. How do you feel about coming back to the mansion? I have both coffee and soft drinks there.”

“Oh really? Not to ask a stupid question. But why would a blood drinking vamp, like yourself, have non-vampire juice readily on hand?”

“I can, and do, on ocassions partake of non-vampire juice as you so charmingly put it.”

Laughing Cordelia smiled at his unexpected show of humour.

“Sorry. But can you blame me really? All I know about vampires is from those dusty old tombs Giles make us read.”

“No offence taken, I assure you Cordelia. I’m more than willing to tell you more about vampires. If you like? Most of which you won’t find in any dusty old tombs!”

“Like what exactly?” Cordelia asked. Breathless from the intense look he was currently pining on her. So sultry and seductive.

“Come by for that drink and let’s begin to find out. Shall we?”

Getting into her car Cordelia lent across opening the passenger side door. After Angelus had climbed in beside her, she started the engine. Heading off towards his mansion home to start getting to know all about vampires. Or more important this vampire in particular.

THE MANSION
Laughing uproarously at the man sitting opposite Cordelia wiped the tears from her face.

” Y-yo-you-your having me on.” Cordelia accused.

“No way … I’m being completely straight with you here. There we were, standing right next to them. Shackles, bodies, blood everywhere … and they turn to us calmly saying ‘is there something wrong?’ It was all I could do to respond without choking on my own laughter.”

“I can imagine!”

“We were both so stunned that they must have figured it out and ran before we had stopped hooting!”

“Then what did you do? Go after them?” Cordelia finally managed to get out between burst of laughter.

“We decided it was too risky as they had probably reached the main street by then. So we made good our escape before they came back with a lynching party in tow.”

Cordelia looked closely at the man seated across from her in deep contemplation. There was more, a lot more, to him than met the eye. Since they had arrived at the mansion he had been the perfect gentleman and the perfect host.

The first thing he had done was make her as comfortable as possible. So he had immediately gotten a raging fire going in the hearth.

Next he had got them the aforementioned drinks. She had had a cold drink of fresh orange juice, which he had served with the most delicious cookies. Sure she could buy that a vampire might drink the odd glass of OJ but she doubted they ate cookies. Not unless they had a sweet fang or something.

He had then regaled her with the most amusing tales of his long life, or should she say unlife. All of which he swore were true.

Angelus couldn’t help but notice her avid gaze. He more than a little bit pleased at how this time alone had gone. There was a lot more than talking he wanted to do with the attractive girl. But at least the last while boded well for their future.

Angelus really didn’t care what any musty prophecy said. He knew his future didn’t lie with the slayer.

No his future most definitely didn’t sit with her.

He just knew where his future lay. And she was sitting directly in front of him!

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!

Cordelia stretched and yawned, laughing in response to Angelus’ chuckle of amusement.

“Well I guess it’s that time again.” Cordelia reluctantly admitted.

“What time?” Angelus asked. Watching closely as Cordelia stretched one last time before rising to her feet.

Picking up her jacket which had been laid over the arm of the plush sofa. “The time when all good little girls should be wrapped up snug in their beds.”

“Good little girl? You? Good and little aren’t words I would generally associate with you Cordelia.”

Pulling on her jacket Cordelia smiled at his purred words. “Should I take that as an insult Angelus?”

“I don’t know, you tell me.” Angelus softly ordered as he brushed her cheek under the pretense of pushing back a stray lock of hair.

Suddenly feeling incredibly dry-mouthed, her throat closing up tighter with each passing second. Swallowing difficultedly Cordelia licked her dry lips and emmited a short cough.

“An-Angelus …”

“Hmm?”

Too engrossed in her lips, and more importantly the tongue dashing out her mouth to lash at them, Angelus was paying no real attention to exactly what she was saying.

“I … I re-real-really … I really … hmm … I should be going!” Cordelia finally managed to stutter out.

Pulling away from the tall, strong body hanging over her own slighter form. Shadowing her and making it hard for her think of anything but him. His strong, masculine body was incredibly attractive to her.

She had always felt attracted to Angel, and also Angelus by default. But nothing in her could possible had prepared her for what she was feeling at this precise moment.

Unable to move she was forced to simply watch as his face lowered slowly towards her. There was absolutely no doubt in her mind that Angelus intended to kiss her.

She could not make herself move away, speak or in anyway do anything to stop him. Not that she wanted to do so anyway she realized, surprised.

Anticipation rapidly grew within her as his lips began to touch on hers.

“Hullo there! Anyone home?”

The slam of the door and the accompanying called out words caused both of them to physically jump.

Cordelia clasped a hand to her chest, holding it over her pounding heart. Angelus growled loudly as he moved away from the blushing girl. Growling again as he saw her blush deepen at the other man’s arrival into the open doorway.

“Well hello there Cordelia,” he smiled broadly at the shaken brunette. “I wasn’t expecting to see you. But I suppose that explains the hot little number parked outside in the driveway,” he summised. “Yours I assume?”

Dragging her eyes away from the now sullen vampire Cordelia flashed a brightly warm smile. “You assume correctly Doyle. Quite a beauty, isn’t she?”

“Matches her owner then.” Doyle reflected. Totally ignoring the warning growl sent his way from the increasingly annoyed vampire.

“Thank you.” Cordelia mumbled. Her pleasure at his obviously honest compliment tempered by confusion at Angelus’ growing upset. “Well I really need to run. See ya both later.”

With a final wave and smile at both men she practically run out the front door. A tense silence infused the room as the sound of her car coming to life reached their ears.

Once the car was out of earshot Angelus turned his full attention onto the now squirming man still standing in the doorway.

“Did I interrupt anything?” Doyle finally asked. Sure he already knew the answer to that particular question.

Sauntering over Angelus glared down at him. “What d’you reckon?” he spat out.

“I reckon I did.”

“You most certainly did. You have some sense of timing there.”

“Would it help if I said I was sorry?” Doyle asked hopefully.

“Not much.”

“Oh well. I guess I better be …” Doyle nodded upstairs. “G’night Angelus.”

Turning about he began to head up to bed. Half-way up the stairs a thought occured to him. Looking down at the vampire still standing in the doorway.

“Oh by the way …” Angelus looked up, meeting his gaze. “That guy Giles-whatever or whatever-Giles is comin’ over ‘ere sometime tomorrow.”

Angelus’ eyebrows rose in obvious surprise. He was more than a little surprised at Giles willingly coming to his mansion.

Seeing this Doyle smiled in understanding. “I know it’s more than a little surprising. But his interest in any info I can give him on the prophecy far out weighs any discomfort he might feel about comin’ ‘ere.”

“So do you know anything?” Angelus asked. Clearly interested in his response. After all the prophecy concerned him too, probably even more than the slayer.

“To be honest with ya. I don’t think I know much. Certainly no more ‘an what he has gotten off that scroll of his anyhows.”

“Then why is Giles putting himself through all the discomfort of visiting here?”

“Mainly because I didn’t have time ta tell ‘im that.”

“Why not?”

“I had to leave afore I throttled that blasted charge to his. That’s why not!”

At his annoyed look and disgusted tone of voice Angelus couldn’t help but to chuckle.

“Say no more.” Angelus held up a halting hand. “I’ve found myself in exactly the same position. Several times in fact. Including tonight.”

“Well he says he will come on by. The only thing I know fer sure is that the translation isn’t as clear-cut as he assumes.”

“Oh really?”

“Yes really. But that too can wait till tomorrow!” Doyle turned, mounting the rest of the stairs towards his bed calling out one last unanswered ‘G’night!’ over his departing shoulder.
THE LIBRARY: GILES
Locking up the doors was his final responsibility before heading on home.

After all the tension and upset today – and most especially this evening – had taken their toll on him. He was exhausted beyond belief.

Eagerly anticipating a good night’s sleep. Although it was highly unlikely given the worries brewing deep inside him.

After Doyle had left he had tried to find out what Buffy, and the rest of them, had been whispering about so secretively. He had tried unsucessfully to talk to them but they refused to tell him any of what they had been discussing. He had a knawing suspicion of what they were planning and he was dreading attempting to stop them.

He sensed approaching disaster if they did try and do what he suspected.

Sighing in temporary defeat Giles headed home. With pounding head he prayed to whatever Gods were listening for at least a couple hours of welcome sleep.
CORDELIA’S BEDROOM
Cordelia hummed to herself as she prepared for her bed. She felt so strangely relaxed. Not to mention the growing sense of happiness taking root inside her.

She felt that a heavy weight had been removed from her tired and weary shoulders. She was now free of her unpredictable burden of her relationship with Xander. Scoffing at her usage of the term ‘relationship’ in reference to them. Relationship implied far more than anything that existed between them.

Also she was proud of herself for standing up to all the Scooby gang. Most especially for telling off the slayer.

Add that to her being able to show off by being the only one, apart from Angelus and Doyle, who knew anything about the Powers That Be.

All in all a good night for her. She had seen the end of some bad parts of her life. And more importantly new avenues had opened up to her in the form of one incredibly hot, albeit soulless, hunk of manpire.

Dreams of the future flowed through her mind as she slipped towards sleep.

THE NEXT DAY … BUFFY

Buffy woke early as usual, yawning she stretched out her sleep-heavy muscles.

The feeling of content happiness inside her mixed itself with more than a touch of tingling excitement.

Confusion was swept aside as she remembered the night before.

It had been more than a shock to realize Angelus was back. The last thing they had expected after hearing the unwelcome news of his arrival was for him to just walk in the library doors like that.

After the tense and upsetting confrontations with both him and Cordelia the answer to all her heartache fell right into her lap.

Cordelia’s behaviour last night had been worse than ever but the good news was Xander was well rid of her now. As they all were. The only thing she was any good for was playing bait, and that wasn’t worth having to put up with the bitchy self-centred brunette.

Everything was turning out great for her at last. And not before time.

Best of all was that tonight she would be welcoming her lover back with open arms. Smiling she imagined their reunion. She also couldn’t wait to see Cordelia’s face when she first sees them together. Wrapped tight in each other’s arms. Hopefully kissing passionately.

After last night she couldn’t help but notice Angelus’ interest in the other girl. She also knew Cordelia would take him at the first opportunity. She had always wanted Angel, and soulless was her only possible opportunity. As Angel would never be interested in her, but Buffy had little doubt that Angelus would waste absolutely no time in getting her into the sack. After all he had a certain affinity for Cordelia’s type. His time spend with Darla certainly proved that!

A cruel, almost sadistic, smile adorned her face as she almost wished this could wait a few weeks. That way Cordelia could be well wrapped up in Angelus by then.

So to see them locked in a passionate clinch will give the other girl the comeuppence she quite justly deserves. Once and for all.

Especially after tonight’s little show, she could have her revenge while Cordelia would suffer for hurtinq Xander tonight. And every other time too.

But Buffy just couldn’t bring herself to wait even a moment longer than necessary.

Because in just a few incredibly long hours she will be wrapped up tight in the arms of her soul-mate.

Tonight they were going to return Angel’s soul to him and they were going to fulfill their destiny. Together just like the prophecy foretold …..

…THE END…
