“Don’t worry Angel” Cordelia patted Angel’s shaking knee comfortingly, “You’ll be fine” she told him.
‘You’ll be fine’ Angel mimicked her silently, not having the guts to do it to her face. Of course he’d be fine, everything would be fine. Until he woke up in hospital with more than one or two broken bones that is. “Are you sure you’re sure about this?” Angel asked, his voice going up a pitch.
“Oh yeah” Cordelia replied with a huge beaming smile, “You’re gonna just love it Angel, I swear” she said.
“I know I’m going to, uh, love it. But if God meant man to fly, he would’ve given us wings and if God meant man to jump out of planes then” Angel swallowed. “Well, I’m sure God wouldn’t want man to jump out of planes” he added.
“Don’t be such a wuss Angel, honestly. The world’s ex champion and you’re scared of a ‘little’ thing like this?” Cordelia asked increduously.
Angel glared at the woman siiting next to him who was practically jumping up and down on her seat. “Little thing? LITTLE THING?” he yelled, “Jumping out of a plane at this height is not a ‘little thing.’ This ‘little thing’ could get us killed” he pointed out.
“Angel, there’s an emergency parachute if the main one fails, we’ll be fine” Cordelia waved off his concerns.
“What do you mean? If the main one fails? Why would it fail? Is there something you’re not telling me? Something that, I dunno, I should know about? Like, perhaps, the instructor could be a shape-shifting demon sent to kill us both?” Angel hissed.
“Angel, will you please just calm down?” Cordelia glared then bit back a laugh when the plane hit an air pocket. “What would Angelus think of you know?”
“He’d be one my side in all of this” Angel hissed as he gripped the edge of his seat when the plane jolted slightly.
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say Angel” Cordelia let him off the hook with that one.
“Are you folks ready?” the instructor asked.
“Totally, I’m ‘so’ excited” Cordelia pulled on her goggles and stood up as the instructor opened the door. She never realised it would be so high, with the ground that far away. Cordelia swallowed nervously.
“What are you waiting for Cordy?” Angel teased when he saw her tense up.
“Nothing, just admiring the view” Cordelia lied as she tried to take a step away from the open door and gushing way.
“Don’t worry Cordy, you’ll be fine” Angel smirked and stepped closer to her. Oh, how he loved payback.
“You know what?” Cordelia gripped the edge of the door, “I might just stay in here, kind of tired you know”
“Uh-huh” Angel deadpanned and placed his hand on the small of her back, “I’ll tell you what sweetie” he murmured in her ear.
Despite her predicament, Cordelia couldn’t help but shiver, “What?” she asked breathlessly.
“You go first” Angel pushed Cordelia out the door and out of the plane.
“II HHAATTTEE YYOOUU” Cordelia’s voice faded as she hurtled towards the ground.
“And I’ll see you when the plane lands, have a good landing” Angel yelled over the plane’s noise. He turned to the instructor who was grinning at him, “What? You don’t think I’m stupid enough to throw myself out of a plane do you?” he asked pointedly.
